Looks like an update of the old wire frame sports finders that you see on 35mm and medium format cameras.

I do not believe it was wires... The impression I was getting was that it was projected like a weapon sight. Dunno..

For a high-zoom camera.. At least it would get the birds into the focus frame instead of me moving it around the LCD screen.
