Just rented it from netflix. In the final scene where there is an apparition of Obi Wan, Yoda, and Anakin instead of the old geezer that just died, it's the new anakin from Episode 3. Anyone notice that yet.

Kinda freaked the wife out here. She had seen it before, I hadn't. She was expecting Mr. Finster.

No Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan is still old.

It isn't a big deal, but I wish Lucas would stop fucking with these movies already!

Considering 6 movies made over a lifespan, I can see why some changes needed to be made to tie them all together.

Ditto, and renaming them, ie Episode 1 is now episode 3 the New Hope. I don't think George Lucas really anticipated making more than 1 movie; but then money was just too good, and so like any other entrapeteurer and capitalist, why not?

I still have all of the older Star Wars movies(in the new numerical sequence, eps 1, 2, & 3) on vid tape with the original endings.

BAH!!!

Where was it ever represented that this was the REAL, ACTUALLY, HONEST TO GOODNESS REAL Anakin Skywalker.

Dude, we knew it was an actor, even then.

I think editing the films, later, is bullshit.

Next thing you know, some Television mogul is gonna start buying up old black and white classics and making them COLOR!!!

i see this two diferent ways.

yoda, obi wan, and anakin's ghosts/spirits/presance are there, in the form that they were then they died. anakin died when he killed mace windu, and became darth vader. so they put his death age there.

that is how george lucas would defend it, there is one slight problem...

you can tell in ESB, and ROTJ, that there is a little bit of good left indarth vader, and when he dies, he kills hte emperor symbolising him killing all hte bad in him, washing away his bad nature, and becoming good. he also took his mask off shoing that he didnt die as dath vader, but as a person, anakin. this means that anakin is still old, and should have been left that way.

I was also kinda pissed on the re-released Episode VI how they changed the end scene.  I preferred the original Ewok ending with the original Ewok song.

Also, the explosions got a little out of hand on the Special Editions.

Still haven't seen I-III yet...

I want to know what happened to Lucas' plans for another 3 movies that were to be set AFTER the first 3 movies. I had a copy of an interview years ago ( back around the time the original movie came out) where he said after the 3 prequels were done, he intended to leap forward and show Luke, Han, etc and even hoped to have the original actors reprise their roles. Guess that wasn't meant to be................

yeah, well he changed his mind. in a press conferance he said that starwars was the story of darth vader, from about 9 or to, until he died, and that there was nothing more to tell. there are some outlines for the movies, and they were suposed to begin shooting them in like 8 years, but so far it doesnt look like he'll be doing it.

Typical Hollywierd communist-type, when the history don't fit the current PC propaganda, tweak the history a little here and there.

I bought the Special Edition a while ago but have not watched all of it yet. I just checked out what you said and I was definantly surprised to see that. I'm glad Lucas has added in the extra stuff he couldnt do back in the day due to budget/CGI limitations etc;

I would like to see 7,8 and 9 made 'cause I LOVE Star Wars and do not want it to end

Lucas said that, but he's as full of shit as episodes I and II.
If it were true, where was Darth Vader's character development in IV, V and VI?
He missed a real opportunity and no amount of revisionist bullshit will clear that up.

Yea, I noticed it and it pissed me off to no end.

Yoda is old when he dies, he reappears as old.

ObiWan dies when he is old, he reappears as old.

Vader dies as an old fart, he reappears as a young punk who can't act? WTF??

ETA: and the "he "died" when he changed to Vader is bullshit. He's alive. Partially robotic, but alive as Vader.

Greedo shooting first, the Sarlac pit having a clam on a rope as a mouth, and Hayden Christianson replacing the guy who played Anakin Skywalker in Return of the Jedi (why not replace him in the Darth Vader costume too while we're at it?) are the only real complaints I have with the remakes. Though I prefer the original ending in RotJ too.

Not quite.  It was just Star Wars when it first came out.

Then before Empire Strikes back episode V(5) came out it was renamed to be Star Wars: A New Hope episode IV(4)

Either way it was renamed a long long time ago.  And has been it's current name for most people

BTW, the link above is not for any real SW miovies.  They are not written by Lucas.  It's bunk written by a site called supershadow.com.  It's full of fake interviews with Lucas, fake film ideas, and it even has some BS about the guy who runs the site directing and producing epsiodes 7-9.  It's well known amongst SW fandom that anything from that site is not to be trusted.  Those treatments for SW movies are taken directly from various elements of many SW novels that have been published over the years.
