[ARCHIVED THREAD] - ESPN Magazine - Body Issue 2015 (Page 1 of 2)

I searched, couldn't believe there was not a thread here. Unlike the SI Swimsuit Issue which is probably the most widely distributed soft porn on the planet, ESPN seems to do a good job truly celebrating the human form without sexualizing it. Full article with lots of pics: The most widely talked about cover: A few 300+ pound guys (Indianapolis Colts Offensive Linemen): Mods, if either image violates the COC feel free to remove it. |

Bingson is 5'6" and 180#. I imagine she's incredibly strong. That's a hell of a lot of woman, and I applaud her willingness to show off her body knowing full well that a significant portion of America will ridicule her for it. Check the article & accompanying pics. Plenty there for everyone. I'm probably already pushing the limits of good taste as far as the site COC is concerned with the Bingson image - if I post a sexier image I'm likely risking a time out. That's something I'd rather avoid... |

If you cannot see the difference between a woman who happens to be the greatest American ever to throw a hammer and your local Wal-Mart whopper chopper jockey, I probably can't help you. That she is comfortable in her own skin is more than can be said for some of the more traditionally attractive athletes in the issue. Natalie Coughlin, for example: "I'm self conscious about my arms. It's hard to find a dress that's a size 10 in the lats but size 4 in the waist." This lady is smoking hot, yet she's embarrassed (ashamed?) of her own body over a silly thing like over developed lats/arms. Yeah, she took her clothes off for the issue just like Bingson did but at least Bingson fucking owns her shit. Bingson's happy with her body just the way it is - which, if you don't mind me repeating myself - is the body it takes for her to be the best American ever at what she does. Some years back, Prince Fielder was photographed for the Body Issue. I don't recall any horror at his substantial belly at the time. Sometimes, what works and what looks good don't exactly coincide. How many great NFL linemen look sexy in the buff? Some, perhaps, but many are fat and flabby and strong as hell with better wind that one would ever expect from a man so large. Seriously, if you can't see the difference between a truly world class athlete and someone so out of shape they can't walk the aisles at the grocery store maybe you need to reconsider your perceptions. |

Hmmmm, I'm sure I'll take some heat for this, but both photos in the OP are pretty impressive specimens of the human body.
The female looks extremely powerful, yet still in many ways feminine. I'm impressed. The O-linemen are impressive because for 300+ lbs they look extremely athletic, not,a bunch of fat slobs. |

I had been playing volleyball since I was in elementary school, and I was pretty good at it. But my coach told me that unless I lost 30 pounds there was no room for me on the team. I couldn't lose the weight. I went with my mom to the doctor and we tried to learn all this stuff. I did everything I could and I could not lose it. So she kicked me off. There were other girls who were not as good as I was, but they fit into the uniforms. So that was her rationale. She said unless I lost 30 pounds then I couldn't be on the team, even though I was pretty good at volleyball. I believe this story, and it is approaching maximum fucked up. The kid was good at the sport, but didn't look the part so her coach kicked her off the team. Fuck that coach, I hope she reads this article and at least feels some hint of shame for her actions. |
