Well, last night I started my Reserve LEO training and Firearms is scheduled for this Saturday (as well as many other days).

My question is, i currently own Peltor Low Profile Ear Protection and it worked great when we just did handgun training (back in the previous class). This time around, we're doing handgun AND shotgun. Will I have a problem with the shotgun stock bumping my ear protection up or should I be fine?

Thanks.

Those work great for handguns but for carbine/shotgun, THESE are hard to beat as they are "custom fitted" to your ears. Ear Inc
I've got these and they are great!

Use plugs and muffs if you're unsure.

A couple of 9mm bullets work well in a pinch

Have you tried these

on the Peltor site? I use muffs a lot less low profile than the Peltor and have no problem with a shotgun. Depends on how you mount it, I guess.

For training I'd reccomend getting some electronic hearing protection. These work much better for hearing range commands and instruction.

I was given a pair of those plugs that block the loud sounds but allow voice to be heard but i dunno if i wore them wrong or didn't put them in far enough....cause they didn't really work. hat
I'll leave early for class tomorrow night and stop by the Fun Store and pick up some plugs.

I used the low profile pelters and now the tactical 7 with rifle and shotgun, no problem at all.

I thought that sounded too good to be true. The ears I use are really pretty good. I can shoot cheek to jowl with ARs. Throw in a .308 and I use foam plugs in addition.

You should have no problems with the low profile muffs, IMO. I shoot with the bigger Peltors on my shotguns & have no problems & they're a bit bigger than the low profile versions.

Always double up. Always. I use these. Got fitted by the wife of the owner of surefire. Nice but i can not recall her name. She is an audiologist (sp) so I guess he had to give her a job.  They work.
