| I'm looking at picking up some Earpro hearing protection and I see that they have three models, the EP3, EP4, and EP6. They all have the same price and the same description more or less. Could anyone that has experience with these help me and explain what the differences are/which are best for a range situation? |

Quoted: I was looking at the ones by Surefire. I only saw those three models on their website. I love the surefire earpro its what I wear during competitions. I use the ep4 and it seems to be sufficient. The ep6 will have more protection but its not necessary unless you are shooting a 50 cal. |

Howard Leight Impact Sport always get really good reviews. 326 reviews on Amazon with a 4 1/2 star rating. If I were in the market, I'd probably get those. Wow, thanks man. I've been considering upgrading from my Walmart-special Winchester muffs for a while, and $50 is pretty good for these. A buddy of mine has a pair, and they're awesome for working around equipment - hook up the iPhone, and you can still hear your surroundings to boot. Here's the link for those with weak Google-fu: Howard Leight R-01526 Impact Sport Electronic Earmuff You just gave me the nudge I needed to pull the trigger on them :) |

The reason I switched to the surefire earbuds though is because you can't wear a boonie with the muffs on and its easier to pull one earbud out then it is to take muffs off. Some of the USPSA qualifiers I go to are 5 hours long out in the sun and I have to have a boonie on or my face and neck would get torched so that's why I needed the surefires. Also the surefires are cheaper. |

I've tried many and these really do a hell of a job for the price. Like any muffs, they suck in the hot but quality-wise they are excellent. Battery life is OK, volume level works well. I've recommended them to others and family –– whom also love them. You can find them at Cabela's and other places as well for a slightly higher price if you would rather try brick and morter and be able to return if they don't work right for you. They are also relatively "low profile" compared to other "value" priced models. |

Hey gang, I like Howard Leights too, but OP isn't asking about those.

It's what they have and I've never been able to figure out the difference. They're interesting. Indoors, they quieted a 22 really well. Outdoors, they didn't seem to kick in as well.. maybe it wasn't loud enough to trigger them. |
