| The president is very much a figurehead - he wields no real power whatsoever. He is apparently chosen by the government, but the qualities he is required to display are not those of leadership but those of finely judged outrage. For this reason the President is always a controversial choice, always an infuriating but fascinating character. His job is not to wield power but to draw attention away from it. |
| Well, that about wraps it up for god. |

I love that story.

![]() Death - Misanthrope From above and around, observations are collected Knowledge is taken in by curious life forms That may bring hope from beyond Beneath the giver of life, our sun An examination of another kind is done A view from those who stood high And breathing the sky An opinion from below and from above Some were decided, some were not A few looked away, but none forgot Misanthrope Hater of all mankind There is some hope For those who own their mind They came, they saw and acknowledged Some good, some bad Opinion: Dangerous |

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.Â
There is another theory which states that this has already happened. |

My daughter and her husband teach school in a remote part of AK.
They were giving a test to one of the lower grade students (like 5th equivalent or so here). One of the questions was about why people should have laws and such. The students simple answer: 42 They could not mark it wrong. If you don't like the answer, you should have asked a better question. |

Oh freddled gruntbuggly,
Thy micturations are to me, As plurdled gabbleblotchits, On a lurgid bee, That mordiously hath blurted out, Its earted jurtles, Into a rancid festering confectious organ squealer. [drowned out by moaning and screaming] Now the jurpling slayjid agrocrustles, Are slurping hagrilly up the axlegrurts, And living glupules frart and stipulate, Like jowling meated liverslime, Groop, I implore thee, my foonting turlingdromes, And hooptiously drangle me, With crinkly bindlewurdles, mashurbitries. Or else I shall rend thee in the gobberwarts with my blurglecruncheon, See if I don't! |

There already was one... 6 episodes back in 1981. IMO the radio shows are where the really hoopy froods find their entertainment. Quoted:

A TV show based on the book would be a good watch. Probably do well with the Dr Who crowd. IMO the radio shows are where the really hoopy froods find their entertainment. I might have the timeline wrong, but I think the radio shows predate the novel. And, IIRC, Life the Universe and Everything actually began its life as a Dr. Who script. Adams tweaked it into a Hithchikers story when the Dr. Who folks weren't interested. He did write for a few episodes, though. |
