So, this happened:

If you're all, "lol, wut?" and need some explanation, Royal Nonesuch built this knife and when some people in the comments mentioned testing it on ballistic gel, he sent it to me. Here's his original video.

I bet taping a sparkler to a knife would be more effective.

What makes you think teh gheys don't like stabby things just for the sake of stabbing things. I've heard they like stabbing stuff.

Well, I don't know how you can really measure effectiveness with something like this anyway. It was just a silly project for fun. Pretty sure that just stabbing something again would be a better plan for anything that really needed stabbin'.

LOL, this is kind of just for fun. There is no practical purpose. Obviously, anything that needs stabbing should probably just be stabbed more or shot. The guy who made this probably learned a bit in the process and it's just fun solving problems and producing a workable prototype, even if the product doesn't do anything particularly useful.

I had a similar anti-shark weapon when I was a kid. It was fashioned more like an ice pick with a activation disc near the handle. You were to stab the selachimorpha with the ice pick thing and then it would be incapacitated by the sudden burst of air. I never tried it but instead lost it.

That's similar to the inspiration for this project. He got the idea from the WASP injection knife. Also of dubious utility, I guess the idea is that if a shark were filled with gas, they would be a lot more buoyant and less of a threat. I'm sure a bang stick would be a hell of a lot more effective in that use case and doesn't involve being within arm's reach of a fucking shark.
