Outbid with 2 seconds left. Assholes. Title edited ~ 82nd |

I'm sure you can contact the seller and complain. Just let them know that even though someone else bid more money you really wanted the item and would prefer to pay them less than the winning bidder will, they should understand. I've learned that if I really want something on eBay I better bid enough that I won't be upset if I get outbid. |
No, your life revolves being at your computer at the time the auction ends and however long it may take if people keep entering a bid. As others have said just decide the absolute max that you are willing to pay for something and then enter that bid. It sucks to be outbid by a dollar or something like that but... |

Nothing wrong with Ebay, IF you know how to use it. At GunBroker.com with the 15 minute rule it is impossible to get a good deal. Auctionarms is like Ebay, you can be sniped with seconds left. If it is something you really want, place the max amount you will pay with seconds left. If it sells for more than your max bid then the other bidder paid more than you wanted to spend. |
That is never the best plan of action. To win on ebay you have to do a few things. 1. Know what you are bidding on is worth. 2. find something you like and 'Watch' the item, do not place a bid at this point. 3. Determine the maximum amount you are willing to pay, INCLUDING shipping. 4. Never ever bid on the item until there is 15 seconds left, and bid your maximum amount. Following this strategy, you will not get caught up in the bidding hype and over bid and you will be the one that snipes out the auction. I buy stuff on there regularly and I have been sniped out by $1 more than once but you have to remember that there is always someone out there willing to pay $1 or more than an item is worth, move on and find another one, there will always be other ones. The trick to getting good deals on E-bay is to be patient, the hasty gotta have it now buyers are the ones that make E-bay profitable the ones that sit back and wait for the deals are the ones that make it successful. |
+1000. Gunchoker is all about getting the maximum amount for the seller, and co-incidentally the website as well, since fees are based on final value. I never buy anything there, but it's a handy tool to see just exactly how much the traffic will bear. If you gotta have it and money is no object, gunchoker is your site to buy on. |

If you bid high early, shills will drive your bid up to its max. First in time wins if within the bidding increment so they can smoke out your high bid. Sniping is the only way to go if you don't want a seller and their buds to squeeze you out of your last dime. |
That's what I do. About 20 seconds prior to close I enter my true MAXIMUM BID. If I get it, I get it. If not, I wasn't gonna pay that much anyway. |

www.justsnipe.com It's free if you only use it a few times a month. It's only missed one or two things that I bid on where I wasn't legitimately outbid. For the price, I'm not complaining. |
That's haggling, not auctioning. Nothing on Ebay stopping one from making their best offer. |

Sylvan: The key to eternal happiness on eBay is three-fold. First, only buy from sellers with good feedback (98% and upwards). Second, ALWAYS know how much the shipping is before you bid on an item because it is easy to get screwed on shipping. Third, ALWAYS decide what your maximum you will pay for an item is BEFORE you bid, the just go ahead and bid that amount. If you do these 3 things, I promise that you will always be satisfied with your eBay transactions. Have fun! ETA: everybod else in this thread cut Sylvan some slack. You, too were once a new eBay user and had much to learn |
