The wedding date is set and  things are now worse than dubious.

I advised the groom to pull the red ring.

I will NOT go into the problem here, suffice to say the bride is showing signs of self destructiveness.

It is a close friend of Neighbor Bob's

He is sitting here as I post this and has a good rapport with the prospective groom.

FWIW I am posting this because Neighbor Bob isn't on line.

(Yeah, I know, but give him a break)

Advice?

Do you have a basement?  Hold him there until it is over  (edit:  The groom that is)  Seriously, do everything you can to talk sense into the groom.  If it dosen't work it dosen't and you did what you could.

Get him super drunk, put him on a train to Alaska with exactly enough money in his pocket to get back to Washington State.  No ID, credit cards, phone, nothing.  By the time he wakes up and gets back, he will have missed the wedding.

You could always tell him the personal stories of divorce from this recent thread:
http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=980812

If that doesn't make you think very carefully about who you marry then I don't know what does.
