I look at the candidates that will possibly make it to the national elections and I get depressed.

Nobody that has a chance of getting out of the primaries is worthy of being voted for to be President.

This truly sucks.

You can always vote for Hillary to show the Republicans your displeasure at their candidates. I'm sure that the better the Democrats do, the more it will push them towards running more conservative choices.

Well they say it took a carter to get a Reagan. So perhaps then it will take a Hillary to get another Reagan.

I'm not looking for another Reagan. He gave illegals amnesty and signed a full auto ban that still stands today. Why would I want a repeat of that?

This primary season was really more about the future direction of the GOP than about who the next president would be, the Dems have pretty much had this locked up since before people even announced.

The GOP has decided to stand for nothing.

It took a Goldwater to get a Reagan.

+1

voting for whatever R is on the ballot is what got us in this mess.  The Republicans know the party faithful will blindly vote for whoever they put forth.

Don't worry, none of the Republicans running is going to become president. This is really just an exercise that we have to go through. Some Democrat is going to win. Our only hope of keeping Obama and Hillary out of The White House is John Edwards.

You know, if we were really smart we'd all have been supporting Bill Richardson for the last year.

The possibility now exists that I'll end up choosing a Democratic ballot in the primary

McCain gets enough support from Democrats that he could beat Obama or Hillary. Of course a McCain administration would be only slightly better than a Hillary or Obama administration.

McCains likely three part plan for his first year in office.
Close the gun show loophole.
Campaign finance refom.
Amnesty for 20 million illegals.

Shit happens.  I've yet to see the candidate I agreed on about everythng.  The most important thing is to vote for and support conservative candidates for the House and Senate to make sure that the areas with which you disagree are contained by Congress.
If Romney or McCain are elected, we need to make sure Congress doesn't give them a "gunshow loophole" bill or an illegal amnesty bill to sign.
Thank God it looks like Giuliani is out of it.  I couldn't bring myself to vote for him.

To put things in perspective:

Even a REALLY crappy Republican President can appoint a fine Judge to the Supreme or lesser Courts. Long after GWB is gone, John Roberts and Sam Alito will still be around, putting the smackdown on lefties.

Now, a Democrat President - not so much...

I was thinking about this last night as I was trying to fall asleep.........I have zero faith in McCain to nominate anything resembling a conservative judge. None what so ever.  Look at what he did to Bush's appointments, he was responsible for preventing the one of the very few good things Bush had going for him.  I have much more faith in Romney and the Huckster of putting in decent judges than McCain.
