I have an electric smoke detector and the damn thing started beeping in the middle of the night. Not the alarm mode just a beep about every 30 seconds. If it had a battery I would understand that it probably meant it was running low. Why would an electric one just beep intermediately all of a sudden? Last night was the 2nd night so I finally disconnected it. Thanks… |

Mine never did that, but I clean it every once in a while, maybee there is some dust covering the sensor or a bug moved in. BTW, was yours going off every time someone cooked? Mine did whenever my wife used the oven and forget about making a steak, we just unplugged it. |

These are bedroom dectectors far way from the kitchen. |

Quoted: I thought they all had batteries, in case the power goes out. And I thought the intermittent beep indicated battery low. GENTLY remove the unit from the wall bracket (instructions are printed on the unit). Look and see if you have a battery in it. If there is no place for a battery, buy a detector that does. Old battery, replace. New battery, some other problem, such as it needs cleaning. |

Before you remove it get the model number off of it and use the internet to run a check on it. The smoke detectors in my house are hard wired into the house electrical system and are also hard wired into the main smoke detector in the hallway. If power goes out all of them give warning beeps, if the battery goes dead on one of them it gives warning beeps, if smoke is detected they all go off. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Do have an electric TV or electric radio in your house? I have these cool electric lights. WAY better than the water powered ones. Huh? "I have an electric smoke detector" - What the hell other kind is there? Electric powered as opposed to just battery operated.[noclue] http://www.ci.newport-news.va.us/fire/sd02.htm To the rest, thanks for the feedback. |
