I am contemplating giving these a try on my acoustic, does anyone here run them?  In your opinion, are they worth the price differential, and if so, why?  Thanks!

Ernie Balls FTW!!!

I do.  I like them.

I don't play an acoustic, but I've gravitated towards Ernie Ball strings.  The guys at the guitar store mention that the coated strings like Elixirs sound good and stay sounding good longer than non-coated strings.

Oh, and you owe me $5.50

I use elixirs almost exclusively. They're worth the price, IMO. They sound great, last long, and most importantly feel great. I prefer the brighter tone of the nanowebs over the polywebs, personally.

ETA: Another note, the coating really cuts down on string squeeks.

I put a set on my acoustic about four months ago (I do not play it very often) and they are still like brand new.  Same feel, same sound.  I can't say how they hold up to regular usage, but I like them.

Absolutely the best strings-------------period.

Definitely worth it.

I ran a set of polys and did not like them. Ran a set of Nano's PB's and liked them. But at $15 +/- I like DR Sunbeams, John Pearse, Daddario PB's...I guess I don't mind changing strings that much.

I like them a lot. I've been using the nanoweb custom light on my acoustics for a couple years now. The sound pretty darn good an last a lot longer than the DRs I used to use.

Okay, it's true.  These scrings are made of a magical thing, a magical thing that has all by itself made me a better player, it's just that simple.  I like them, and have now found my happy strings.

i'll be the dissenting opinion here.

they feel pretty good, but they severely limit the dynamics of your instrument.  all guitar discussions are subjective, but it's like having too much compression on the guitar.  Try hitting a loud chord and see if you still like them.  If you do- great for you, but i don't like what they did to my instruments.

They're not the best sounding stings, but they last a long time. I use Thomastik-Infeld, which are the best sounding strings I've heard. Although they don't last as long as Elixers on most guitars, some guitars like them old (i.e. one of my Martins).

For recording, I wouldn't recommend Elixers.

I continue to be impressed with them.  They DO have a much deeper sound, but I like that.  My guitar is a Martin D15, which is all Mahogany, really lending itself to the boomy sound of the strings.

I like deep strings too, but with Elixers, it's not so much deep as it is lack of high end due to the coating.

Did you pick up the polys or the nanos?

I much prefer the nanos

Got teh Nanos.  A buddy had his Yari strung with Polys, and they *were* far too "thick" for my taste.  I will admit, the more I play them, that the high end *is* lacking.  But the boom is so strong, I'll stick with them.

You see, I don't use a pick, just a "long" index nail, so I don't get the "big sound", as it is, very subdued, and I like that.  They are very mellow, but like I said, I am beginning to miss the high end sounds.  Maybe I'll mix up strings, like AED the Elixers, and EGB some silk wounds.  Anyone ever done something like that?

Camp_ninja gave me some super slinky's when I busted one on my Alvarez 5212. Sounded like dragging barbed wire across tin roofing.

So went and bought some Elixers about an hour ago. Hoping they'd sound like the ones on ninja's Martin, I am less than thrilled.

Guess you cant polish a turd.

/but I love my turd. As someone once said, "I'd walk into a fire to get it out."
//and my alvarez has seen some fireside damage.
