So I have a work email account that I need to access via my smart phone. They use outlook as the mail host.
I tried to add a new account on my Samsung note 4 and I get to the part about pop3, imap, or microsoft exchange. I tried each option but couldnt get it to work. Any help? |

Do you know if you have outlook web access setup? The server name for the Exchange option is probably the same as the server name for OWA. I opened the email setting online and saw something about allowing remote access. It wont let me click on anything. |

Does your company have a Microsoft Exchange Server or do they use Microsoft Office 365? ETA: what sort of errors are you getting? |

Office 365 is web based. |

Some companies don't allow work mail on personal phones. |

Log into your mail from your computer. You should be able to view your account properties. I will tell you which email protocol you are using (i.e. POP, IMAP etc.) Ill try that. I found a link under settings that lists pop3, imap, and smtp. All say unavailable. |

if your company has any common sense they wouldn't allow non company networked devices to access their systems including email. I have to use a VPN to access mine and my device, a laptop in my case, has to be encrypted, have anti-virus running, other types of security software |

Level of security is a combination of level of threat vs what the company can afford. There are bigger threats to the company network than a guy getting his mail on his phone which is utilizing authentication. |

Then you are using exchange, you can try using mail.companyname.com but it might be something like mobile.companyname or remote.companyname.
There are far to many options to tell you exactly what it is. You can try downloading the Outlook app from the play store. It uses autodiscovery to help sign your in. If that doesn't work you are going to need to email your IT person. I know she said she's busy, but if she's to busy to help with this you need to hire another IT person to help her. Or she needs to do a better job documenting these things for your company so that people don't have to call her and can refer to the documentation. |
