FYI I subcribed to their email list to track them.  I got this today

Dear Violence Policy Center Action Network Member:

More good news! Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) has added his name to the list of Senate supporters of S. 1431, the bill to strengthen and renew the federal assault weapons ban. As a congressman in 1994, Schumer led the fight in the House to pass the current ban. We are making great progress, but, as always, we your need your continued support to educate members of Congress that the people of America want the assault weapons ban renewed and strengthened.

Hundreds of individuals have gone to our website-www.banassaultweapons.org--and signed up to get involved. Please help us keep the momentum going by sending your friends this link to our movie,"The Gun Industry's Vision for America," http://action.vpc.org/ctt.asp?u=1423191&l=14803, and encourage them to sign-up for the network. The more people that get involved, the better our chances for success!

Recent incidents reflect the danger these weapons pose to our nation's law enforcement, and why it is imperative that Congress not only renew but strengthen the assault weapons ban:

--On January 2, Farron Barksdale used an SKS assault rifle to kill police officers Tony Mims, 40, and Sgt. Larry Russell, 42 in Athens, Georgia. The SKS is not banned under current law, but would be banned under S.1431/H.R.2038.

--On January 1, Monroe Thornhill was arrested in Polk City, Florida for shooting at a police officer on December 28. He was carrying a handgun and an AR15 assault rifle for the purpose of "hunting sheriffs," as he put it.

Congress will be back in session next week so look for action alerts asking you to contact your elected officials

LEO killings are indeed tragic, but notice how they don't state that 20% of them occur with the officers own sidearm.

They make it sound like Schumer supporting S.1431 is some kind of a surprise![whacko]

VPC are a buch of assclowns anyway.  All of there propaganda is chock full of misquotes and skewed statistics as well as flat out lies.  It's the only way they can spread their filth because telling everyone that such a low percentage of shootings are done with 'assault rifles' wouldn't support their attempt at banning them.

This won't make it, or at least shouldn't.  Some of the biggest dip shit democrats I know are turning very pro gun and were pissed when the judge in DC kept the handgun ban.  The dem. constituents seem to no longer tolerate rediculous measures of gun control, but fully support the right to keep and bear arms.  Mainly because they feel Bush and the patriot act tramples the 1st. and the 4th. ammendment and that irks em, so they can't rightly stand by and let their own side trample the 2nd. while still bitching about other rights.  So it may swing our way yet!

Schumer is a cunt.

And, yes, I know he's a he.

Nothing like being accurate...the shooting referred to above was in Athens ALABAMA, not Athens, Georgia. But, hell, as long as it advances their agenda, who gives a flying shit, right???

Nice how they blame the gun, rather than the pusilanimous sonofawhore that killed those two officers. Funny how he, a cold blooded killer, is in no way held accountable by the cowards at the VPC.  The VPC cheapens what happened to those two officers, by focusing their misguided outrage on an SKS, rather than a  recedivistic maggot like Barksdale. And what's more, they are proud of it.

It's for the children, you know.

Fuckbags.

Listing the SKS implies they want to ban all semi-auto rifles.
