I know there were some other threads about it but I cant find them when I search.
What a movie. It started out IMO as the modern version of Adam-12 but it got dark towards the end. Reed and Malloy never had to deal with crap like what Taylor and Z found. Are things really that bad in LA? I know its a movie but surely there is a little truth to it. Do street cops out there really have surefire lights on their duty pistols? |

I guess it depends on what your dept SOP is and if you are allowed to use a weapons light or not a lot of Leo's I have met are not gun guys and only use what's issued to them I do t work LAPD, but I do work in LA county and have worked a LAPD taskforce. Almost all departments in LA are approved for ights on their handguns and about 60% of the guys I know have them. My department issued H&K USP ..45s and a UTL light. John |

That's a fast way end up underneath the bus....... My dept issues a 229 in 40 cal without rails. So no weapon mounted light is possible. Allegedly we're going to be going to a gun in the future, (when exactly is the fun part) with a rail which will allow a weapon mounted light. When that happens, we (firearms staff) will be pushing hard to allow officers to purchase a holster that allows the gun to be holstered with the light on it. Going hands on while fumbling to remove a weapon mounted light so you can holster your pistol is a fantastic problem waiting to happen. |

Do all squad cars have ballistic panels in the doors? Thats something I saw in the movie, that I never knew before... Never sat in the FRONT ![]() I've never driven one that did. But then again, I don't work in LA..... The Sheriff's Office where I live (not LA, not even LA County or Southern California at all) buys ballistic panels in the front doors of all their patrol cars. I got a chance to look at one of the purchase/order forms from Ford once, it's a factory option. But it's expensive, too. Then I spent a little time working with the SO, later. All the patrol cars I saw from the inside (yes, the front seat) had "ballistic insert" or "ballistic panel" (or something to that meaning anyway) stamped on the inside of the door. A few years back, a Deputy's door panel stopped a round while he was driving past a known shit-hole and some turd took a shot at him from concealment. |

| Thought it was pretty meh. Mainly because it seems they forgot it was supposed to be first person every so often. Like when they kick down the door and there is a shot from the other side of the door of them coming in. Who was filming that? Who was filming the final shoot out between the other cops and the gang? They went to great pains to show that the gang bangers were filming themselves too so why did they suddenly thrown in a bunch of extra angles? |

I waited until end of run in the cinema to see it and do not regret doing so....did not really have to wait that long. |
