What is cool is to see a whole Caddy go into our Metso and come out 47 seconds later as fist sized chunks. The one in the link is a slow speed shredder. Our Metso has a 90,000 lb rotor and the hammer speed is around 120 mph. Shredders are fearful things. Any video of that? |

I will dig up some "going in and coming out" footage tomorrow No video of the car in the mill as that is rather violent and takes place inside 8" thick steel walled box If you get a chance to visit a scrap yard operating a mega shredder it is awesome |

I wonder what that thing would do to $38,000,000 worth of M1 rifles, M1 carbines, M14 rifles, and M3 grease guns I would love to drop a section of 4" armor plate into THAT shredder and see how it likes it. Anyone that would destroy our history should be fed into a shredder feet first. There's no fucking excuse for that. |

I have seen pictures of what a machine of that type did to a person.
They can be found on google images as the first death attributed to a robot in the US. Some poor Japanese technician that was working in NYC and did not disable a robotic arm over the shredder. |

They could easily just scrap the recievers and FCG from the Grease Guns and M14s and sell the rest of the parts at market value. |

I've seen something similar used on cattle. LiveLeak Video: Haarslev Animal Shredder Quoted:

That guy was dressed too nice and had washed too recently to be a real hippie. |

Those are baby shredders compared to the auto shredders I grew up working on. Our main shredder was a refitted Pettibone Hammermill driven by two Waukesha natural gas fired V12 engines of which each cylinder's displacement was 514 cubic inches. Thats 24 Lamborghini Countachs driving a rotor shaft. When at full speed, it could shred a whole F250 with block, tranny, drivetrain, wheels and tires in about 2-3 seconds. Before the environmental douches got involved we even shredded 'em with gas tanks attached. There's a big bang for ya when a gas tank explodes inside the rotor box of a shredder. Those SSI shredders are cool but they ain't super shredders. |
Friggin aluminum. Throw a Cummings block in there and lets see what it does.
