How come every dipshit gun counter worker knows what an Aimpoint is but looks at you like you are stupid when you ask for an EoTech?

Me: "Do you carry EoTech sights?"

Them:

Me:  "Like an Aimpoint."

Them"    "Oh, I don't think so."

Me:    "Ok, thanks."

I actually had one give me the bucktooth look.

I think the field of view through an EoTech is nicer. The insane battery life of the AimPoint is rather attractive though...

I AGREE!!!

Although.... I only have one rifle

to answer the OP's question... some people are just not educated in the field they are in. It is the consumer's job to do the research of what is better and find who sells both if that is what you want to do is compare.

I feel your pain man, I feel your pain... either they know too much and are snobs about it or they are too un-educated (not dumb, just un-educated)

Or worse, they are un-educated snobs... Those are MY NIGHTMARE!

I am lucky, I found the ONE greatest gun sales guy.... Knows everything there is to know and not a snob about it.

EoThingys are faster to get a sight picture.

Aimpoints offer magnification.

Do you need fast or magnification?

I want fast.

Yeah but I like the fact that if the EOtech AA batteries die... ANY local store, Target, supermarket, hardware store has them.

Were you at OutDoor America?  I overheard a newbie sounding kid at the counter decribe the glock 30 as a single stack and the g36 as a double.  I found him by himself later and quietly corrected him.  If it had been one of those old know-it-alls I would have corrected him in front of the customer.

Aimpoint also makes hunting optics and scopes, EOTech does not.

That was professional of you. No need to embarass people... and you educated the kid. Good man.

I have only seen 1 ML2 Aimpoint in a local shop. All I ever see are Eotechs and the hunting camo Aimpoints.

What model Eotech? Are you mounting it on a riser of directly on the reciever? Fixed  BUIS or Flip up?

In my hometown Aimpoint is pretty much the non existent. There is only one place that carries anyone Aimpoints and about 4 that carry EOTech.

It probably depends just where you live and how popular the product is in your location.

Most people at the range ask me what my Aimpoint is, but they know what an EOTech is.

Funny, my FIL just retired from the Oklahoma Army National Guard..he'd even worked as a range officer ..Last summer I pulled out an RRA with an EoTech and he looked at it like a caveman looking at an IPOD...never heard of it ...was more than happy to show me his BSA red dot though

Are you on Oklahoma Shooters.com?..some guy sold a 511 on there yesterday for $275..511 may not meet your LEO needs (after dark no knock pot raid) but for that price you could have it as a spare.

There is not an EoTech to buy anywhere in OKC.

Oh well, I'll order one.  Cheaper anyway.

I just wanted to go shoot my new build tomorrow.
