| I saw the movie when it first came out, own the dvd and am still watching it on TV right now. My question is why didn't this awesome movie catch on and do better? |

There's some SERIOUS conspiring and double crossing in that movie. oh yeah when I first saw it & realized what was going down I was oh snap!! with all the action and all in it the story is actually really powerful and telling. I love how the guards are like oh shit when they realize that he's a "sense offender"

Didn't do good because it came out around the same time as the Matrix movies and the commercial for it when it was in theaters made it look like a Matrix rip-off. I like it. Are you thinking of this movie, or the 13th Floor? The commercial for Equilibrium showed people dressed in all black doing all sorts of crazy shooting. People unfortunately dismissed it as a Matrix rip-off based on that. |

People unfortunately dismissed it as a Matrix rip-off based on that. well it did come out 3 years after the matrix I like it too but it is medium budget straight to DVD quality as for computer generated world movies it is interesting that matrix , 13th floor and eXistenZ all released within a couple months of each other in 1999 |
