Anyone know if certain states are required to use a certain amount of ethanol and some aren't? I've been in MD for about 6 months now, and noticed the gas stations on post all say that the fuel may contain up to 10% ethanol. I think I've noticed similar notices on off-post gas stations as well. Is this a requirement in the state of MD? I bought a new Tacoma in February and until two days ago, all of the gas that I've had in it has been purchased in MD. I keep very detailed records on gas and fuel mileage, and on Monday I filled up at a gas station in PA while I was home for the weekend. I got significantly better gas mileage on that tank. Ethanol was my first and best guess as to the reason for the difference. Now I've read that ethanol supplemented gas isn't as good as straight gas, but wow, I made about another 30-some miles on that tank above the average.

| Nope, no error. Just for kicks, I've kept track of every drop of gas that's gone into that truck. You can see the patterns as it got better with break-in, then started to level off. I also keep an eye on the gas guage with respects to the mileage, and knew it was going to be an unusually efficient tank before I did the calculation. |
wow, don't you have all the answers..... Got any facts behind any of this. |
It's been discussed here ad nauseum. |
