I thought I would share what I thought to be a pretty funny moment in my ethics class this morning.
The professor was talking about what each person views as the right thing to do in a situation where you see an old lady getting mugged. Most people would call the cops or keep walking. There were a few of us that said we would intervene. One of the "I would just call the cops" kids looked at me when I said I would intervene and said "well what if the attacker has a gun, What do you do then tough guy?" me "shoot him with my gun" him - jaw drops and turns to look at the professor. professor "well thats obviously a good option, what does the rest of the class think?" I think the professor did an excelent job playing it off..... Anyways, I know, "thrilling tale chap" , "Cool story bro" and all that. |

These are the kind of people I go to school with. |

Ethics was my favorite college class. My professor was from Czechoslovakia. She hated communists and was a huge Ayn Rand fan, showed clips from The Fountainhead in class.
I was a "non-traditional" student. I had been in the Army and a few jobs after. So I was older than the majority of the students. It was fun to watch them try to stretch their minds around concepts like right and wrong. Sometimes you could see an idea go off behind their eyes like a nuclear bomb. It either broke through and illuminated their brain, or completely blew their little minds away. |

I had a similar thing happen when the campus cops brought their guns (ARs, Shotguns, Glocks) to show to a few people downstairs in my dorm.
During the 'gun safety, pre finger-fuck the guns' speech we got to the topic of active shooters and the cop asked "So, what would you do if someone just walked through this door and started shooting everyone?" I said "Well, I'd start shooting back" Everyone laughed, and the cop was all  and said "You don't have a gun, do you?"
I told them I didn't (No CC on campus  )
Still got a good laugh though - and I don't think it's the answer he was expecting. |
