I think that we're probably 15 - 20 years away from finding strong indications of life on another planet (or moon), assuming there are no large cuts in research funding.

It's possible that some of the large antenna arrays due to come on line even sooner will catch a stray intelligent signal, but I'm less confident of that than of detecting much simpler forms of life.

Human exploration (and even robotic exploration) of planets outside our solar system is still a very long way off.  But we should have the technology to detect signs from of life on distant planets from Earth orbit soon.
