I also learned that Rolex will pay exorbitant prices for "new" watches on the secondary market just to track them back to point of sale. Again, they don't fuck around. Very interesting. My extremely reputable AD sold my ex a big diamond that was a couple grades lower than advertised and described on the paperwork when we bought it. She found out when she went to sell it in a different state after we were divorced. The same AD bait and switched us on a non-date Sub that was supposed to have box and papers from an estate sale. I’m good buying gray market. |

Lets play. Just went into my local AD to get on their list for (in order of preference) GTM Master II with a preferred oyster band in either Red and Blue or Black and Gray Or a white dial Explorer II Let's see if I can get one and how long it takes. |

In 2000 I walked into an AD, plunked down $2900 and walked out with a no date sub. 2 years or so ago I serviced it in NY for the first time. While at the store picking it up I saw a Batgirl. Loved it. Asked how much etc. told associate ok, I ll take it. She says oh no, I can’t sell it to you. Then the list bullshit. Never heard from them Last year another Jeweler in Manhasset , I’m buying a VC&A necklace for my wife, while they are getting more necklaces from their safe I walk across to the watch section. Bam, another batgirl. How much ? $10,800. I ll take it. Oh no, I can’t sell it to you….. Same list BS, and same deal, never called. Now I buy Relax watches which parody Rolex watches. They cost around $300 on average and who cares how bad I abuse them they are cheaper than a case of ammo. |

I’ll let ya’ll know I suppose. On March 13th I was put on “the list” for a Rolex Explorer 36mm with an AD. Although I have a history with them, a Tudor, Air king, OP, and some jewelry although I have not purchased anything in the last 4 or 5 years from them. Attached File |

The “buy in” business model is why Jay Leno, who has the means to purchase most any car, will not own a Lambo or Ferrari. Can’t remember which of these Italian stallion brands does this. The very same concept; deny the buyer what they desire, offer a random assortment of lesser products and manipulate buyers, thereby creating artificial, coerced sales volume. Kind of. Many who are willing to pay to play are the last ones to complain about the price they pay to be in the club. |

Yes, from what I understand they had a tendency to crack at the juncture of the 3 and 9 o'clock positions. The speculation is that the next GMT will feature actual ceramic dials like the Cerachrom. |

Part of the problem is Rolex but the gray market is the Rolex version of neckbearding. The grays buy up everything and mark it up. All the grays do it. We have no choice. The neckbearding is only possible because of the fucking stupid Rolex business model of a waitlist. |
