This has been quite a day, first the Santa Clarita stand off, then the Midwest massacre and now an explosion with a continually rising death toll. What's next?

It must suck to be trapped in a building filled with people that is being engulfed in flames.

It's been reported on the news that couple houses full of people have been found brutally murdered. It appears that the bodies have been there for days. I didn't catch the city. But I think they said that they apprehended the guy.

Did they let that subway gas guru out of jail or something?

The news claims that the explosion occurred in the "red light" district of Tokyo. It was a gambling nightclub in a area known to be controlled and frequented by the Yakuza. Maybe it was a hit, extortion or retaliation.

I still think it was the subway gas guru.

He has changed to more conventional weaponry.

More like runaway capitalism. Check out this article: http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/ap/20010901/wl/japan_explosion_17.html

It appears that busnesses in Japan are largely exempt form saftey regulation.  There were eight fire saftey violations at a inspection held a year ago. Most of them would have closed a building just about anywhere in the US and resulted in serious fines for the owner. But Japanese law carries no penalties for these violations, they can only be used as evidence later if there is a accident, in order to avoid placing "undue burdens" on Japanese busness and industry.

Not to mention a whole lot of graft and corruption, but that seems to be common in any city the size of Tokyo anywhere in the world.

I was watching a Japanese TV show on cable, and while I couldn't make out the words, according to the pictures they have a big problem with giant robots rampaging through Tokyo.  Maybe one of those caused the explosion.

Naw, it was from all the Godzilla movies on SciFi. Someone's head exploded from all the bad dubbing.
