My internal drive is almost full. I'm ordering some RAM and I intend to be storing a lot of video (new camcorder) and I'd like to get an external hard drive. Is this one good? www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16822148077 I know Seagate has a good reputation and my mind tells me if I'm also going to use it as a backup I'd better get a good one. Is the pricing in line with what I should pay? Would you recommend a different one? Thanks! |

That is a pretty good price for an already put-together external. But does it have a fan? Note that the internal Seagates have a 5 year warranty - unless Seagate sells them in an external enclosure, then it is 1 year. Heat kills. I assembled one myself a week ago. Fry's had a 400G Seagate on sale for $120, and I got a case for it, aluminum with 2 fans. for $30 at NewEgg. Piece of cake. Now I am searching for the best Ghosting software. Ghost 10 has more bad reviews than good. Acronis True Image seems to be the way to go. Not sure yet. Any Ghosting experts want to chime in? DanM |
