Yeah all you fuckers wish you flew the viper
Probably since the time you wore a diaper We got every mission that you do I can fly 'em all better than you Yeah all you fuckers wish you flew the viper 'Cause we're single seat multirole We can fly right up our own asshole Yeah all you fuckers wish you flew the viper |

My last assigned acft were F-16A/B.
I was a Dock Shop Weenie for four years. I learned not to hate them thar Suck & Blow Tinker Toys. After all, I am a Prop Head by nature. It's pretty kewl to watch one fly straight-up out of sight, knowing I was the Guy that bolted the engine in & hooked-up the fuel line. The Ol' Crew Chief |

Having talked with a couple AF jockeys (A-10, F-15, F/A-18E) they all pretty much said this about the F-16:
"There are only two kinds of Viper pilots: those who have ejected, and those who are going to." There's a damned good reason why most of the premiere fighters in the world have more than one engine

Even though I was a Navy AB and from Texas, I think these tail markings are one of the best I have ever seen. Shame they traded in their F-16s for KC-135s last I heard. http://www.f-16.net/g3/var/resizes/f-16-photos/album38/album68/adq.jpg?m=1371932709 Yep, several years ago. |

The aircrew makes it "in-place".

Quick question though, what's with the different colored canopy's? Some have an orangish/brownish hue, while some are more blue. Is there a reason? Not at all. When some of the jets looked different in what I assumed to be a bunch of identical copies, it threw me for a loop. Ironically - I thought back to my days as a young kid making model planes and being upset that some of my conopy's were not perfectly clear! |

Too bad they never produced the XL http://instapinch.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/F-16XL-5.jpg For what purpose? The idea isn't to build cool looking airplanes, it's to build capable airplanes. Cool will follow if they are capable. The XL doesn't look cool, either. To my eye, it has a metric boat load of wetted area and poor area ruling. |

| "These changes resulted in a 25% improvement in maximum lift-to-drag ratio in supersonic flight and 11% in subsonic flight, and a plane that reportedly handled much more smoothly at high speeds and low altitudes. The enlargements increased fuel capacity by 82%. The F-16XL could carry twice the ordnance of the F-16 and deliver it 40% farther. The enlarged wing allowed a total of 27 hardpoints:" |

eta from the googles Have Glass is the code name for a series of RCS reduction measures for the F-16 fighter. Its primary aspect is the addition of an indium-tin-oxide layer to the gold tinted cockpit canopy. This is reflective to radar frequencies, while it may seem odd, adding a radar reflective coating actually reduces the plane's visibility to radar. An ordinary canopy would let radar signals straight through where they would strike the many edges and corners inside and bounce back strongly to the source, the reflective layer dissipates these signals instead. Overall, Have Glass reduces an F-16's RCS (radar-cross section) by some 15 percent. |

Lol lawn dart You've surely seen the movies of high centerline bird shots on the canopy; that's way more scary than a single engine. |

Compare that to the Strike Eagle's. You know the aircraft that beat out the XL Lawn Dart. |

Don't know how accurate it is but wiki says he was never shot down once. Apparently he was brought down 14 times due to damage incurred by parts flying off aircraft he shot to hell. |
