*sigh*
So in my boredom last night, I watched this movie (because Fitz from Scandal was playing the lead role and well nevermind that isn't the point lol) about Warren Jeffs..I have never in my life seen anything like it. How in the hell did these women get so brainwashed?? I mean I understand why a man would want to be in it, free bitches...But that also got me to thinking...Why would any man want 60 wives? As a woman, there is no way that I would want to be around that many women every single day, let alone share them with my husband. So you have a whole bunch of PMS'ing women, kids screaming, bills to pay etc...(Wait, and it wasn't like some of those women were great lookers, they were looking rough) Why would any man want that lifestyle??? Does anyone know anything about this nonsense? |
|
The FLDS are like an isolated civilization on some island. They live in their own little world and rarely venture out, so for some women it's the only lifestyle they have ever known. ETA: It doesn't help matters much that the government fulfills all the dire warnings their leaders have told them about the outside world. If you're a woman living in polygamy and your choice is between living the lifestyle and accepting the government's "help" and losing your family, then it's not surprising so many of them don't wish to accept outside help. Ironically, thanks to recent gay marriage rulings the door is wide open to the legalization of polygamy. |
I'm betting there were no Latinas in the mix....
Ones almost more than I can tolerate, two would be excessive. 60? Unbridled insanity. There is no explanation for insanity. This is a fundamental flaw in Americans, we feel there must be an explanation, a reason for an insane persons actions, often, there is not, which is the very definition of crazy. He Crazy. |

Gotta start early and make sure they don't learn better. That some sad shit right there... Yep Same with other cultures, I'd never accept wearing a Burkha or niqab (especially how hot it is in Arab countries) but if you're raised to believe it's god's will then... |

It's kind of a status symbol in the community -- the more wives, the more wealthy/righteous you are perceived to be. |

I'm trying to go for one and a concubine like my boys David, Solomon and Abraham (this one kinda turned out bad for humanity though). Unfortunately my FIL couldn't pull it off so now I'm SOL |

Quoted: Mark Twain had a few things to say about the Mormons. Many of which were humorous exaggerations meant to entertain his readers. He once interviewed Brigham Young with another news correspondent during a visit to SLC in the 1860s. During the interview he kept trolling Young with all sorts of silly and provocative questions, and he described Young's reaction as that of a "benign old cat, looking around to see which kitten was playing with its tail." |

I don't think they like any "minority women" *lol* |
I think it's a power and a pedophile thing myself. We regularly see polygs in Cedar City and St. Geroge UT shopping at Walmart. You almost never see any boys over 14-15 with them. I myself can barely handle one woman I don't know how I would deal with multiple women unless I used a "Pimp" mentality. I had two aunts married to Brigham Young. he had 26 wives. I think he managed them by scattering them throughout Utah.

The rest were "welfare wives", older women he married in order to provide them with a husband and a place to live. Many of his "connubial" wives had their own houses, which was kind of an expectation at the time. My great-great grandmother wouldn't marry my gg-grandfather until he built a house for her. In many families (such as my ancestor's) the wives were separated in order to keep conflict down. |

IIRC, the police department in that area was just disbanded because it was totally under the control of the FLDS, and had been helping the FLDS families run their young boys out of town, while preventing any young girls from leaving. |

| 60 is too much, I have handled 2, one was a weekend visit and the other lived with us. It did work, but the drama overtook us. Part was the MsWinds wanted too much, MrsWind is fine with sharing, likes the household help, but she is wife #1. We have talked about it, it has some advantages in today's world. Think 3 incomes, less chores, and they do sync their peroids.... that sucked. If We could find one like MrsWind, maybe, but she is a one in a billion |

| The submissiveness of the men to the FLDS leadership is pretty astounding too. 10 years ago or so the leadership booted a bunch of guys, and reassigned their wives and children to other men. The guys that got booted have not seen their wives or children since then. |

| MrsWind and I are Poly, or polyamory. Able to love and have a relationship with more than one person. We have shared a gf several times, but it is hard to date women when you are a couple. I have woke told two women 'I love the' when we were together and no attitudes. It is something hidden that is comming out. The Celts had there relationships historically. We just stumbled upon each other one morning, she said talked about it and we eventually understood how different we are. We have no jealousy. We are our primary relationship, and we cen each have a secondary relattionship. We differ from swingers as they do it with anyone, we have some sort of relationship with the other. |
