Fall into a puddle of water, stinger LED rechargeable light quits working the next day and won't hold a charge.
Gorram pieces of garbage. |

Even the cheap chinese dealextreme stuff tends to have O-rings. ![]() It's got O-rings but somehow moisture made it up inside the body where it played havoc with the components. It's OK, it was free, issued, and I have a MUCH better Surefire e2d LED that's brighter and lighter. |

That's a bad design, unacceptable for a brand name as big as theirs. The two-for-$4 Husky lights from Home Depot can pass a submerge test. ![]() A quick dunk shouldn't pose any problem. |

I've had issues with them.
PT2L quit working the day I bought it. Went back to the factory twice (had to pay shipping both times), and still didn't work. I said FU and bought an E2D, and haven't looked back. Surefire may be pricey, but they are a solid American product. |

Streamlight has had problems with there batteries in the past. They are good about replacing them.
I have three stinger, stinger tactical LED and an ultrastinger. They are all work lights and get used everyday. You get a lot of stuff for the price. Light, charger, spare batt and both wall and car plugs for just over $100. Good deal. |

Yep. 12.0" DD lite rail on the 6920, vltor stock, surefire, 14.5" cut with AAC blackout...aimpoint micro. What else does it need? |

They have excellent customer service. Call them and they will either ship you the parts or have you send it in for service. I have had nothing but good luck with Streamlight products. Dropped it off at a repair center (GT distributors) and they're taking care of it. |

that one had a problem. mine has been dunked a few times including a dunk test when i first got it and has held up well.
i have had 2 surefires that died within a month. yea they were both replaced but it didn't give me much faith in the brand when they are considered the holy grail of lights .

What type of failure? |
| older 6p and a g2. 6p just outright died and they replaced it. the g2 died getting dunked in a mud puddle. they replaced it as well. the 6p replacement had a habit of blowing bulbs and i eventually sold it for cheap. CS was great but that kind of money they just had to many issues. i could get the same reliability out of a light 1/2 the price. |

I personally like Streamlight. I have a 12+ year old stinger and a new Stinger LED HP. Things are going to wear out when I use the light multiple times during every shift for years. When I've had an issue I just go to my uniform shop (that's a Streamlight service center), give them the light, wait 10 minutes, and its fixed with no cost to me. I can't do that with Surefire even though Surefire costs a lot more. There are reasons streamlight dominates the law enforcement market.
GT Dist couldn't fix it while you wait? |

It's OK, it was free, issued, and I have a MUCH better Surefire e2d LED that's brighter and lighter. So you are comparing a $100 rechargeable light to a $180 CR123 light? Let's see: Streamlight: One battery every 1.5 years (I usually get 2+, but I will say 1.5 just for the sake of this). I work about 185 days per year with vacation and sick time (I work 10 hour days). I get at least 15 minutes of flashlight use a shift (but often times longer then that). So, I get at least 69.5 hours of pure flashlight use per battery. Even if I paid $15 per battery, I still get a run cost of $.25 per hour with electricity to charge the battery. My costs are much lower since I get longer life out of my batteries, I get more hours on my flashlight, and I buy $6 ebay batteries, but the $.25 per hour is worst case scenario. Surefire: 1.9 hours per two batteries. Let's say you find a good deal and pay $1.50 per 123 battery. That's $3 per 1.9 hours, or $1.58 per hour of light. If I used my light for 47 hours per year, I would be paying almost $75 per year in batteries for my $180 flashlight. So cost wise, the Stinger wins hands down. The advantage also goes to the Stinger for being ready and fully charged at the beginning of each shift whereas a 123 light may only have 15 minutes of battery life remaining at the beginning of your shift so you may run dead in the middle of the first call. I carry a spare $6 ebay Stinger battery just in case I run my Stinger dead but since I switched to the LED stinger I hardly use the spare. Also, the advantage goes to the Stinger for me since I can get it fixed while I wait. But, I guess I should give up on Stingers since its a piece of junk according to you. *For the record, I have never had any Stinger fail due to moisture. |

Surefire may be pricey, but they are a solid American product. Streamlight is based in Norristown, PA and many of their products are made in the US. My Ultrastinger is made in the US. Not sure about the OP's light, but maybe American manufacturing isn't what it used to be. |

Not sure about the OP's light, but maybe American manufacturing isn't what it used to be. I had this. The package was clearly marked CHINA, as it the fact sheet I linked to. I have had better luck with TLR1's. Just checked them, and they are labeled "Assembled in the US" My 6PL that is in a LT inline weapon mount has been indestructable, paid $50 for it. My E2DL goes waterfowling with me. It's tethered to my waders and in constantly wet in doing so. I paid $130 for it from Barrett's store in Tennessee. I picked up my PT2L from a local Streamlight distributor in Valparaiso. I paid $45 for it. Then paid another $30 in shipping it back and forth with Stream light. $75 in and I still have an alliuminum tube that at best, flickers. After the going back a second time, they should have given me a new light. |

My Streamlight Sidewinder stopped working for no apparent reason after very little use.
After throwing it against the kitchen counter in a blind rage, it started working again. They ought to include that technique in the owner's manual. Some dude in the Lights & Lasers forum bought one (against my recommendation), and his stopped working pretty much immediately. My TLR-1 will probably stop working the moment I really can't afford it to.

Yup... My range buddy is that way. Brand new Glock 22, pulled the trigger, broke the striker... How the fuck do you break a striker? SiG P238... Broke one of its springs. Ruger revolver came from factory with some kind of cylinder/frame issue.
Crazy shit. TR85. |
