Official: MSNBC pundit may seek Pa. Senate seat
Saturday, November 29, 2008 12:45 PM EST
The Associated Press

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania Democratic party leader says MSNBC pundit Chris Matthews may be considering a run for U.S. Senate in 2010.

The Patriot-News of Harrisburg reports Matthews met with state party leaders this past week in Washington to discuss a possible bid to unseat Republican Sen. Arlen Specter.

Party official Mary Isenhour says she left the meeting feeling that Matthews still hadn't made up his mind.

The 62-year-old Matthews hosts MSNBC's "Hardball" and provides political commentary on NBC's "Today." He ran unsuccessfully for a Pennsylvania congressional seat in 1974.

There was no immediate comment from Matthews on Saturday. A reliable home telephone number could not be located and a representative of MSNBC did not immediately return a call.

As I said before fuck MSNBC and the rancid sperm blivits that support them

I'd say he doesn't stand a chance in hell, but going by the numerous examples of classes scumbags who've already been elected, he'd fit right in.

I highly doubt he can unseat Specter... but he does have a few things going for him.  For starters, he has "star power."  Combined with the fact that the average person is a fucking moron, he could get quite a chunk of the votes.

What does a private individual's decision (even a proven loser) to run for political office have to do with his employer? Don't get me wrong; there's no love lost between M$NBC and me. However, I'm not seeing the link here.

You're right I should have added an exclamation point.

That right there is a clear and present conflict of interest.

You cannot be a good journalist AND run for political office under the affiliation of either party.

Specter is a RINO and every piece of legislation that the majority on this board support, that weasel opposes, and every piece of legislation that the majority on this board oppose, he predictably supports.

It's hard for me to get worked up over this.

I don't think anyone has ever accused Chris Matthews of being a good journalist.

Takes longer then that.

Even Newt would have a tough time organizing it. Unless some real scandal is found it wont happen.

That's all assuming Obama doesn't learn from the mistakes of Clinton, and he just might.  I'm not going to give the jackass any more credit than I have to, but asking Gates to stay on as Sec. of Def, and naming Gen. James Jones to be National Sec. Advisor may be setting a far different tone to his new admin than most of us thought he would.

Clinton named Sen. Les Aspen as the Sec. of Def. back when he first started out, and Aspen was a pathetic piece of shit-typical liberal radical who hated the military.  Obama's choice to "stay the course" in Iraq is a far cry from his campaign rhetoric.  How ironic.  I wonder what else is going to change from what he promised as a candidate?

Then again, it could all be a distraction to draw off criticism for his record of being a radical liberal (which he is).  Marxists are hard to predict, as they are so opportunistic.
