| I gotta fly in three hours! Family emergency. I've got my Glock in a locking case. Can the ammo be with it? Need help! |
I have never carried a pistol on to an airplane, but the few times I have taken a rifle or shotgun the airline would not let me take ANY ammo. Had to buy ammo when I got there to hunt. They are probably going to be even more anal about a hand gun. If they do let you take ammo, I seriously doubt it will be able to go in the same case. Good luck. I hope everything works out. |
Assuming they let you take a handgun on the plane. i would think it is enough. When I have gone on hunting trips, I used one of those cheep-ass walmart cases with a small pad lock. It was just enough to keep an honest man out. |

I've done it several times. Under 11 pounds of ammo in the original box in a hard locked case. They probably won't even look. You'll have to sign a red tag and put it inside the case. ETA - As soon as you set the case down on the scale, tell them it's a pistol case. |

Everything went real smooth, almost too smooth. They allowed my case and a 50 rd box of ammo in the case without any hiccups or people freaking out. God bless Texans! When I got to Phoenix though, the luggage carousel was ten feet from the exit and there was no baggage claim checks or anything. |
