How much different is Facebook? I've been having a Myspace account for awhile. I joined to get back in touch with friends that moved after Katrina. I kinda half-ass signed up to facebook, but the registration process was such a hassle that I clicked out of it halfway. What are some of the differences?

Facebook is much more structured, it doesn't have the exotic profiles, 1,0000,0000000000000 friends or any music. It's like the conservative myspace imo.

I like to think of it as Myspace, but for adults

For the most part Facebook is more controlled.  The people who are your "friends" are typically people you know.  Not a bunch of idiots who spam your inbox, look at your pictures and solicit you for stuff.  I'll more of a closed community than a free for all.

I had no idea what the difference was until I read this thread. Still won't be signing up tho.

I received a text message on my cell phone yesterday from a gal I've been friends with for nearly 30 yrs. She asked if I had a Facebook account. She was bummed when I told her I didn't have don't have any online accounts with such places.

Now this is a girl who has my e-mail address, cell phone number (and can text), home phone number and mailing address. Am I really so hard to get ahold of that she needs a Facebook account to talk to me?

People are weird.

Facebook is myspace for adults.

The older layout was better IMHO, but it still is way better than myspace.

Facebook is a lot easier to find people you know on.

Myspace lets you know a lot more about a person.

If you are on Myspace/Facebook and are older than 24 you are officially creepy.

I don't have either, but just about everyone I know has a Facebook account...all over 30.  All professional and a few make over $100k/year.

Facebook USED to be better. At first it was strictly for college students, and you had to provide a school e-mail address to join. They relaxed that and now anyone can join. The new layout sucks, and they don't have an option to use the old one. On the plus side, no profile has 100 gb of html code on their profile.
