I was bored one day. Currently I'm in a two week class before the regular semester starts. Its a MIS class, so its always talking about leveraging your information systems and integrating all aspect of data to get business intelligence. Boring, basic stuff really. Then it hit me. I'm not much of a facebook user, but I do have a account. I got to digging and did searches of all the single females at my university. Randomly message say 10 or 15 a week and ask them for coffee or a drink. I already pulled off three dates out of 20 I messaged yesterday. I am getting worried I'll have to many to handle But figure out everyone you date maybe only 20% are remotely compatible. We shall see, but its looking good. Highly recommend this for single guys at big schools. Need a good whitty message. Include things of how you are tired of the bar scene and how you always see the same set of people in your classes each semester. You are just looking to meet a few new people at your school that you otherwise wouldn't run across normally. So all I'm doing is simply leveraging the information I have on all the chicks at my school for my advantage. Maybe I should right a paper on this. Maybe Roo can give me some advice from his Myspace adventures. |
| You have just had your first practical course in marketing. Its all about getting your message out. Numbers matter. Now, analyze your states and you should be able to put together some hard and fast ratios for number of emails vs successful meetings. I would bet those numbers would hold up over the long haul. |
and it used to be cool because it was exclusively for college students with valid .edu email addresses, but now its becoming more and more like myspace because it's opened up to everybody |
My technique is constantly evolving. I started out with:
That got one. I'm having better results with slightly longer messages, which is the latest evolution, like:

lol at the grammar duels going on. Well the thing is ther pool of poon is finite. There are only so many chicks at a school. I supposed you could jump into the pool of chicks that label their profiles as being in a relationship. BTW the School is Ole Miss. My degree department is small, and I really don't meet a lot of new chicks, especially outside bars or other drunken events where it just ends up being a one night stand sort of thing. Plus I'm using facebook because it gives commonality with the target-same school, and a lot of guys still dont use it as a method of soliciting dates. Plus I'd prefer to date a college chick. Besides in Oxford MS, there are not a lot of returns on the other major dating sights. More importantly its FREE. |
pics? I don't think I can steal pics off facebook. Its kinda set up like photo bucket. And I'm not giving the names out lest someone rat me out to all my targets ![]() These are all attractive young coeds. I'll post pics if I get a second date from any of them, or if they have a camera phone (I do not). |
ORly who has a date Friday night, a date saturday night and a date sunday night? Welcome to the twenty first century. Lol, its a numbers game man. No different the walking up to twenty women on the street and asking to meet for drinks. If only one out of twenty answer yes, then everytime you want a date for the night, ask twenty women that day. I don't have time for 100 level classes, and I live off campus. Aside from occasionly running into a chick at the grocery store or liquor store there isn't much opportunity to talk. When I'm walking to class, I'm going to class, and don't have time to stop and chat up some chick. |
Actually, I find the college bar scene to be pathetic. I find it MUCH more intrusive for someone to hound women at a bar as opposed to sending a private message through a website based solely on local networking. - BG |
I'm not really doing this to get laid every time. I am looking for someone compatible. So far I have a 15-20% response rate to meet for drinks. If I figure a further 15-20% make past the first date as being someone I am interested in. Its just a screening process. The internet makes it far easier to do it on a large enough scale to guarantee a few dates each week. More you go through, the quicker you get to some you really like. |

facebook is effective. skips all the bullshit as most profiels give a snapshot of the individual. It is an amazing tool to get in touch with old highschool friends who you lost contact with after graduation or to get together with when back on spring or winter break |
