I was commenting on the Facebook polls and one guy said we needed to raise corporate taxes because companies are making too much $$$ (I thought that was kind of the point)  anyways I wrote him back and said "how in the hell will raising corporate taxes help our economy now? raising taxes will send jobs overseas and cause for layoffs." then it starts with emails, he writes me first: I love how you fail to recognize the excessive pork spending of your own party... Do you care to respond to my comments about corporate taxes, you apparently want to raise them with 10% unemployment. Please enlighten me how that will help considering if we do that, corporations will lay off workers, move jobs overseas and not have the extra money to grow their business and create more jobs. When you lower taxes is when you see economic expansion. Clue me in on how higher corporate taxes will help our unemployment numbers. Please!!! Actually Alan, we do have some industry and manufacturing jobs left in America and raising corporate taxes as you want will cause more job loss and send us back in recession... Raising taxes on people or companies has never brought an economy out of recession and would send us back right into recession by doing it now, especially with so many consumers and business struggling as is. I'm a little more concerned with the economy right now than child labor... By the way, it's spelled Cayman Islands and there aren't as many "off shore bank accounts" as you might think, that's kind of an 80's "coke money from Miami" urban legend, from working in financial services I can tell you it's not as easy to hind money from .gov as you might think, the IRS and SEC stays on top of that shit, especially now after Madoff. actually, the Clinton Administration's social housing policy is what caused us to get where we are... No income, no job, no credit report NINJA loans were forced on mortgage companies by the Clinton Administration, all those high risk mortgages were sold and packaged and sold at a discount as mortgage-backed securities, year after year more and more people get foreclosed on for buying a house they couldn't afford with the introduction of NINJA loans and after a while, all those people defaulting caught up and so you have a crap ton of banks with foreclosed homes on the balance sheet and all those high risk mortgage payments quit coming in. Now the banks don't have the money coming in from mortgages to lend out, thus you have the credit crunch. Without the credit to lend to homebuyer's, they can't buy any property thus causing the real estate bubble.... No money to lend and foreclosed houses sitting on the bank's balance sheet. POOF, you got your housing bubble and credit crunch thanks to your own party's collectivist social policies. 1. I suppose there were no terrorist attacks before Bush took office. Multiple embassy bombings, the USS Cole, the first WTC bombing, I guess none of this really happened. I suppose Bin Laden and Al Qeada did not blossom into a truly threatening international terrorist organization under Clinton's watch (and of course there was the Iranians during Carter's watch). 2. Although Graham Leach Bliley, and the subsequent repeal of Glass Steagal, was a Republican bill Clinton did sign the bill into law. The reason he did so was because Republican reps and Sens introduced provisions to expand the CRA. Regardless what any libtard says, the CRA did cause the housing crisis. One only has to look at who had the largest number of subprime originations and compare that to who got the most recognition as a CRA lender (hint: it was Wells Fargo). CRA caused the housing crisis, GLB allowed the impact to reach as far as it did. 3. Pot, meet kettle. 4. That is a very debatable point, and based on content, lack of knowledge, spelling and grammar, and the quickness to start slinging the ad hominem, I would disagree with this assertion.
