My response: Ignorant? Ignorant is failing to understand the language of the day and what it meant. "Regulated" was intended to mean well trained and equipped. It is funny that you include the prefatory clause but exclude the "shall not be infringed" part. The prefatory clause states the "why", the clause that follows states the right. Pro tip: Like the rest of the Bill of Rights, the Amendment serves to limit the power of government. The picture oozes intellectual dishonesty. But don't take my word for it, instead read District of Columbia v. Heller, 2008. That's got all kinds of nice juicy historical backup for the point I've made. Study after study has proven that at best, gun control does not decrease crime, and very possibly increases crime. People might be more willing to give up their civil rights if the premise behind these laws wasn't 100% bullshit. Think about it - NY just passed a law making it illegal to load more than 7 rounds into a ten round magazine. How stupid must one be to think that this will do ANYTHING to reduce crime. I can see some deranged killer now: "I say, ol' chap, I was planning to kill a bunch of people today, but that additional misdemeanor charge for loading up too many bullets just won't do. The lack of effectiveness of my weapon means I'll need to head to Starbucks instead." Good thing this guy didn't steal a gas truck and strap a road flare to it, driving it into a school. We'd be banning trucks. Or would we? |
