Anyone build one of their kit cars?  I am thinking of doing one of their Project 818 cars.

They are between a few designs and I sort of like what they are doing with something like this:

I've been following FFR for years. Just cannot seem to find the funding for another project. They make some top shelf stuff.

I'd love to build a Cobra replica.

I'd like one of those '33 roadster hot rods. I'd build the motor first.

Guy down the street is building a Cobra it is a very nice kit and he is not mechanical . the fit seems first rate

A neighbor of mine built the FF spec racer Cobra kit.
You had to use all stock Mustang drive train right down to the rear drum brakes.
I went for a ride along at Buttonwillow raceway.

At 220hp, 300tq that car was an impressive performer.
Sick corner exit speed and he went very deep corner entry.
I can't even comprehend the FF kit with 400+hp and Brembo brakes....

If you have the extra coin build one. EZ to do.

My only beef was you do suck on some nasty fumes do to the side pipes..

Interesting project indeed.
They MUST keep the weight down with that running gear.
That could give a Ferrari a run for its money

I was at their open house this year when they unveiled the chassis for the 818. They had the design narrowed down to 3.

A 33 hot rod is on my list...I have to finish a few things on my IROC and I will be selling it to fund the 33.

This is me trying on the 33 in their showroom for size. I'm 6'4" and wanted to make sure there was enough room in it for me.

Not true.  You can buy the Cobra kit with different type set ups.  And you don't HAVE to use the stock mustang drum brakes, I'm sure FF jjust doesn't want to start getting into third party accessories or crossing parts from the SN95 cars.  A quick search on the Corral.net forums will give you lots of Fox chassis upgrades that a smart mfgr would never suggest due to liability.

I like the mid engined C5 Corvette based car.    A bit more $$$, but that power to weight ratio blows away Ferrari.

I'd build a Cobra Roadster with  a 327.    400Hp would be excessive.   Then put DOT  road race slicks on for  grip.   Unsure if I would use a Mustang rear, or the independant rear.    I'd use modern aluminum seats and racing steering wheels.   A tasteful mix of old school and new.     No windshield, just a blade of plexiglass perspex stuff.   (I use FF motorcycle helmets on track days anyway)

their GTM is insane. it weighs 1000 pounds less then a c5..

That is my wife standing beside a GTM at their open house. She is around 5'8" tall. Gives you an idea how low to the ground they are. This one was show car quality...unfortunately I couldn't get more pics due to the rain.

Maybe I'll just send a letter to Obummer for the funds...... ROTFLMFAO.....

Unless something has changed, you don't have to run the drum brakes for that race series.  When I ran it the rules allowed converting the rear brakes to a specific disk setup.

My dad and I built two of the Cobra replicas, a street car for him and a race car for me.   They are enjoyable to build, really like full scale model kits.  In the kit car world, FFR is a good combination of price, engineering,  and quality.  Very tough to beat.  I'd love to build one of their '33 or GTM kits

Race car we built:

Dual roll bar option. Looks like he put on pass side only for camera mount,

This ^^^

I didn't have the driver's side hoop on for the GoKart pics/video.

The pass-side was already on for mockup and provided the necessary 'high spot' for the GoPro.

Why?   $$$?   The GTM still is a lesser car loan than a top of the line Mustang?

Porsche usually makes pretty stout stuff.

Yes, mostly money but hassle as well. If you're sourcing a Vette drivetrain and rolling chassis, why not use the transaxle as well?

Their price point is awesome though, their target was 20k and they hit it right on. You can't beat that price if you do it yourself.

Couple of things..

1 - $20K is for the GTM kit - sans engine/drivetrain/transaxle/wheels/body/paint/any upgrades/etc...  Real world budget for a complete/decent+ GTM is well north of $50K.
2 - Factory Five developing/developed their own (Mendeola) transaxle so one doesn't have to use the one from the Porsche.
