Last time I flew, I tried carrying a medium-sized padlock; one of those standard combination locks that are on a million lockers. No problem, but doesn't mean no one would ever flag it.

I neither seek nor accept "permission ", so armed 99% of the time. As to improvised weaponry, to paraphrase arfcom, anything is a weapon if you're brave enough...or threatened enough. I knew a murderess, years ago who often said, "I have a rock with your name on it ".

This is not the one I have but its similar in nature. You get the idea. For vehicle defense I have mine in the right-rear map pocket. If the BLM/ANTIFA, Drug addicted homeless types should try to yank me out of my vehicle. Or their demeanor should suggest they might be building up to that. I can just reach over. And there she is. IF those types try anything of that nature,.....start smashing hands, fingers with it. "Its the Hands that Kill" as they say. There's almost no fat and no muscle to protect the upside of a violent criminal hands from impact. Except drugs. Fish whackers,...tire thumpers,.. are highly recommended in my books. Mine is perfectly balanced in the hand, Worth every penny. $35 bucks. Yep, Ill take that. ETA: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M67HBHD?tag=arfcom00-20 They look so innocent when you slide them into your back pocket. But when you move explosively, with full force. Can be very effective. Down strike on the clavicle. While the criminal is distracted from that impact,.....do a half-moon, semi-circular swing back around and upper cut into his solar plexus. Dumps the air out of their lungs. Keep repeating until they decide they have had enough. *** Check your local and Sate laws for legality. |

I work for an employer that doesn’t allow employees to bring weapons into work. My assisted-opening knife with a 3.5” blade is OK, but my concealed carry piece isn’t. However, we use lots of tools at work. One of the tools I carry daily to work is a titanium pry bar/demolition bar. One can buy such a bar at Home Depot or on Amazon. A little pricey because it’s titanium, but it’s lightweight and super sturdy—just what you’d expect from such a tool.

Zebra pen for me. In CA you cannot carry a tire thumper or small baseball bat in vehicle. Heck, I carried a sap type of coin bag filled with quarters, made by DeSantis(if I remember correctly). Was talking with retired LEO friend and asked what would be better. Half-fill or filled. He said, illegal. I said "What?". Yep, sap law in CA, so it's better to shoot him instead of knocking him out, the answer was yes. Damn it must be nice to live in a free state.

My go to has been, go pick out a bottle of wine in a nice think heavy bottle, and then 3 or 4 plastic grocery bags as in triple bagged. You can then just carry your bag with your bottle of wine in it with you as you walk back to your place (and enjoy the wine that evening if so inclined). And you can really swing that bottle fast in those bags.....

A Zebra F-701 steel pen is my EDC. I have been through most of the major airports in Asia and Europe, as well as ORD, STL, DFW and ATL back in the States, and it has never causes anyone to bat an eye. It might go through one, though, if the need ever arose.
