I was an 80's kid and loved video games. My dad used to take my brother and I to a place called Star World every Tuesday in the early to mid 80's after school. For $10.00 a person it was 2 large pizza's a picture of pop, and best of all "Free Play" from 3:30 to 8:00. All the games were turned on so you could just hit "player 1 or 2". I thought I was in heaven! Favorite games were: Frogger, Donkey Kong, Guantlet, and Karate Champ. Today I still play some computer games like Ghost Recon (very intense game). What were your favorites past or present! |
| My favorite old game (well I'm young so it might be new to you guys!) is Super Mario Brothers 3 for the basic Nintendo. My new favorite is Day of Defeat, which is basically an add-on to Half-Life, so it uses the Half-Life gaming engine for a whole different game. It's an online multi-player WWII game. Very good. Some of the other people here (e.g. Brouhaha, Tatjana) play this as well. |

I can't say there were many games before that I liked in the arcade... I didn't get to go to many when I was a kid, living overseas and all. Now I'm playing Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Spearhead almost every day. I love getting in some team deathmatch and killin some mofos. :) |
|
Never played Rainbow Six. Ghost Recon is good to play on Elite.....on the two lower levels I just snipe everybody with the M40A1, too easy. SOCOM is better from a realism standpoint...you can't just "RAMBO" through the game. It also let's you pick select fire on the guns you have and it let's you split your two SEAL teams up to accomplish seperate objectives simultaneously. |
| Ghost Recon, at least to me is the most realistic game I have ever played. I have a new Dell so I am able to crank up all the settings to full. None of this, take 10 shots find a "medic pack" and you are back to normal. If you get hit in the leg you hobble, take one to the head that team member is dead. What I like most about the game is leading a platoon. I could write forever on this game but it would take me hours!!! |

You can pick bodies up after you kill the BG's and move them so you stay stealthy. You use a headset and it recognizes voice commands for team commands. You can select from single-burst-auto on an M4. If you have a sniper rifle you are not real steady like in Ghost Recon....you move with breathing, like if you were running you need your heart/breath to slow down before you pull a shot. I think SOCOM is a bit better but I like Ghost Recon too. Ed |

Quoted: Quoted: Mech Warrior! Ditto also Return to Krondor Baldurs Gate Gunship F16 I pretty much like the D&D RPG type games as well as flight sims. Dude! Lets play online sometime. I've betten this game so many times. I want to get the X-box and get mech warrior for it. Looks sweet. |
|
Quoted: Dig Dug, Pole Position, and just for the animation Dragon's Lair. SHIVAN - I'm a big fan of SOCOM as well, do you have the network adapter? SOCOM online is incredible. I can never find one locally for the PS2. I guess I should have gotten an Xbox, but they weren't out when I got the PS2. |
|
Coin-Op: Asteroids Galaga Missle Command Defender Space Invanders Pc: MechWarrior 3&4 M1 Tank Platoon II Medal of Honor series Unreal Championship Return to Castle Wolfenstien HalfLife Xbox: SPLINTER CELL HALO (both these games kick some serious ass) Ghost Recon Medal of Honor: Frontline NCAA 2003 |

I'd like to get online and play some MoH with some of the guys here, if anyone decides on a server to jump into one of these nights! I'm also thinking about getting Flight Combat Simulator 3.... WWII combat sim. Heard it's good, but it's laggy. :( I'd love to play online and shoot some fuckers down! |

Good God! Morrowind! Have you ever seen a game with a "world" as big as this? With SO MANY little things to do on the side? I've been playing this game for over a month and havent even bothered to start the "main quest" yet. I feel like I've still only scratched the surface. Quoted: Zaxxon! Ikari Warriors! Contra! Space Harrier! Gauntlet! Right now, I'm diggin The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind an RPG for the X-box. Man have we come a long way since the coin ops of the early 80's |

I actually put down playing Halo on the HEROIC level to get into this. Right now I'm playing a level 6 Orc Knight with a badass Dwemer Claymore, Dwemer Armor, and I'm currently trying to rescue this pilgrim kidnapped by evil elves....HOLY CRAP!!! I'm geeking out man! aaaarrrrrggghhh! |

All this talk about coin-ops, its a wonder that no one has mentioned any of the Metal Slug games. I'm the only guy I know that can beat the original Metal Slug on a single credit. Galaga is also a personal favorite. It's the only decent machine at the arcade near my house, and at $0.25 a pop, it's by far the cheapest. (Although you can just get a MAME emulator and play it for free all day.) |
|
I can't tell you how much time I spent playing GALAGA. Do you guys remember some of those 2 quarter games like "STAR WARS" where you sat down inside the machine and you would fly through the those tunnels, like Luke Skywaker did at the end of the first Star Wars movie. Boy I miss those days. Another game I loved playing was: DIG DUG. |
|
Coin Op: Roadblasters. The only coin-op game I ever finished and got high score on. And could do it every time (but only after probably $300 in quarters of practice!) All time Fav: Half-Life--this game actually scared the crap out of me. It was revolutionary when it came out. Nothing else had the depth of story--you became immersed in world as nerdy yet capable Gordon Freeman. The evil CIA guy interspersed throughout kept the intrigue high. Great game. |

I spent my entire childhood playing the original Nintendo.. Loved the Mario Brothers games.. Then I went to an N64.. WOW what a jump THAT was.. Goldeneye is still fun to play now.. gotta love that.. My PC is incredibly slow so I don't play many games on it, but Delta Force 1 & 2 is really awesome.. Huge outdoor environments and realistic bullet trajectories.. I've got a Playstation, too.. Gran Turismo II has got to be my favorite game.. along with Medal Of Honor.. |

Tatjana and I are currently running a Day of Defeat server for all the ARFCOMers out there. On Gamespy, it's listed as "The Black Rifle Home of AR15.com" or something like that. Currently, Gamespy doesn't have it listed because a master is down someplace, so it's kinda empty. But it you want to join and check it out, the IP is: 66.28.81.32:27015 If you want to be listed as a member, pleaseedit you name to read: [AR15.com] |

Only one person has called BATTLE ZONE so far? What's the matter with you people? That is the coolest arcade game ever made. You drove the tank with the two sticks, and it had the neatest sound and atmosphere when you had to look into the periscope. !! Now I want one! [:D] |
|
Hey Symtex what's your Username for AAO? i got 1.5.0 and play it regularly (UN: Datamastre) I play Bridge and Insurgent Camp.... find me sometime = ) Gotta add the ENTIRE GTA series (have yet to play Vice City, played/own everything else). Half-Life is pretty cool, but nothing beats Ms. Pac Man or Street Fighter as machines go. |

[:D] Never played it for the arcade, but you should try the game "Battlezone" for the PC. It's a hypothetical situation in the Cold War with both America and the USSR having discovered some alien material that lets them immediately establish moon colonies. It's a really good game, the graphics are quite good but its old enough that it'll run full-speed on any computer. |
