I forgot what I told her, probably something pro-gun, here is her reply, and then mine. I couldnt believe what was sent to me, right out of the horses mouth, we should ban them because of 2 incidents. I appreciate hearing from you and I welcome the opportunity to respond. In 1994, Congress passed the Omnibus Crime Bill, which was signed into law. One provision of this bill banned the manufacture, transfer, or possession of semi- automatic assault weapons for a preliminary period of ten years. Since 1994, chilling examples, such as the 1999 shootings at Columbine High School in Colorado and at the Jewish Community Center in Los Angeles, have made it clear that military-style assault weapons are a danger on our streets and to our children. Semi- automatic assault weapons, which fire up to 250 rounds of ammunition within seconds and without warning, are weapons of war that do not belong on the streets of our communities. Unfortunately, the assault weapons ban expired in September 2004, despite several attempts to re-authorize it. During the 108th Congress I introduced an amendment to S.1805, the "Lawful Protection of Commerce in Arms Act," to renew the assault weapons ban for another ten years. Although the amendment passed by a vote of 52- 47, S.1805 ultimately did not pass by a vote of 90-8. Since the assault weapons ban was allowed to expire, it has been open season for criminals who want the most dangerous types of military-style assault weapons. There is no doubt that these weapons are among the weapons of choice for those seeking to do the most harm in the least amount of time - terrorists, gang members, and grievance killers. With this in mind, I have decided to re-introduce the assault weapons ban in the 109th Congress. Recently, Senators John Warner (R- VA), Charles Schumer (D-NY), and Mike DeWine (R- OH) joined me in introducing legislation that would reestablish the ban in Federal law. While President Bush has gone on record stating his support for the assault weapons ban, the future success of reinstituting the ban depends on support of the House, the Senate, and the Administration. Please know that I will fight hard in the 109th Congress to make sure that military style assault weapons are once again banned from American communities. Again, thank you for your letter. Your ban did not ban the guns themselves, it banned features of the guns. You took features of the guns and called any gun with those features an assault weapon. Tell me, did the people who shot their guns in Columbine High School have flash suppressors or collapsible buttstocks on their guns, two of the things that you define an assault rifle as having? Have you ever shot an AR-15 with no flash suppressor and a fixed buttstock? Have you shot one with the flash suppressor and a collapsable buttstock? I think you havent, for if you had, you would know that it is possible to get just as many shots off, just as accurately with or without adjustable buttstocks and flash suppressors. So now the question must be asked, why do I care if you ban them, since it makes no difference in my accuracy or number of shots fired? Simple comfort. If I defend myself in my home with my AR-15 I dont want to fire it and have a 4-8 inch ball of fire shoot out of the barrel, this will temporarily blind me, leaving me and my family even more vulnerable for attack because I can't see what is going on. The buttstock is adjustable for the shooting conditions and the comfort of the person shooting, no matter how large or small the person is. Damn you Senator for using two examples of crimes and using that to restrict the rigths of all Americans. It is a shame that the lower 48 states must put up with your feel good legislation and twisted politics. DAMN YOU for trying to restrict my right to bear arms like those in your home state. Senator, you should be ashamed to call yourself American and trying to restrict my 2nd ammendment rights while only citing TWO cases. Tell me how gun crimes have fallen in response to the ban you implimented in 1994. Show me where less deaths have been caused because you took flash suppressors (which only minimize flash) and buttstocks away. Tell me the facts for a change. I'd love to hear it from your mouth. Senator, your heartfelt legislation can be better used for other things. Take for example your instance of 2 tragic events that are reason to ban what you call an "assault weapon". Senator, the year to date deaths in my state by motor-vehicle accident are 226, far more than the two events you speak of. Does this mean we should ban motor vehicles too? Damn you senator. |

You screwed up when you went to the "damn you" parts. I would have left that out. IF she were to read it, it is best for it to be as professional as possible to avoid being completely dismissed as "gun nut drivel". Trust me, if I had the chance I would tell her to "get fucked in the ass by a rubbing alcohol soaked cactus in the darkest pits of hell for eternity"... but it is best to remain professional if you want your message to be respected. Oh well, she probably won't read it anyway... stupid bitch. |

Funny how people, LIBERALS AND DEMOCRATS, can get so emotionally attatched to something with such little facts. But when there is an issue like social secuirty with HARD facts, they refuse. There are very few things in this world I come close to hating.... |

What part do you think she will highlight? The rage? The threats? The anti-American language?  Why do you all think the "damn you" part is rough, its much more tame then the "fuck off" (Dick Cheney) and "kill the bastards" (I forget the WWII era president) or the Dick Cheney "someones going to pay for this... big time" line. You should do some research and look at what Trent Lot, Dick Cheney, JFK etc etc etc have said off the floor of the house, it couldnt air on public TV. It would be funny if she read my letter on the floor, then Frist could blast her ass because we correspond regularly and I tell you, the man knows his stuff. |

Message from Waldo's friend.... I am sorry to inform you that today while at the range 231 rounds were unexpectedly shot out of Waldo's AR. Loosing contorl of the gun, it turned and mowed him down in a furry of fire. Videotape of the incident shows it happening in just 1.78 seconds. Please do your part by turning in your weapons of war. At any point they may unexpectedly fire up to 250 rounds in any direction, and they wont even warn you. |

SHe must be talking about mini-guns "250 shots within seconds" And without warning. Riiigggghhhhht. Last time I took my AK to the range, it just started going off, and it didn't even have the common courtesy of telling me ahead of time I REEEALLLLLY HATE these idiots. I'm surprised she didn't say that these dangerous weapons "spray" bullets. Well, if these weapons can shoot so many rounds without warning, I'm glad I have my AR15 locked in my gun safe at night. Wouldn't want that baby discharging all over my neighborhood without warning!!! Politicians are clueless. I write them all the time, but I never swear at them. But boy do I cuss those bastards when talking about them with friends and fellow gun owners. |
