Really?  There's more work for the EA.  Whatever, when you get through FC, MM will be a breeze.  the FC lecture is lengthy for those trying for a certificate.

Weird. The EA is usually the hardest. You should already know a good portion of the FC, since much is the same with regard to the memory work.

Stick with it and you will obtain the MM.

yep.

by the way MM here is optional. You are already a MM so we have no "requirement" to give the lesson. Any other states like this?

We need to chang that here in Alabama.  Even I gave a proficiency!  I think at least the obligation should be learned.  I didn't learn quite as much in IA with my proficiency, but I also learned some stuff not in Alabama's Lesson.  Were it not for my proficiency, my drive of over 1,000 miles to see one of my former solders be raised, would have resulted in my being denied entrance to the Lodge.  As it was, I almost didn't get in anyway!  The Brother who ensured I was who I said I was is now the first to vouch for me in Lodge.  It IS good to have Brothers.

Everything is required in TX, for all degrees. Memory work, lecture portion of degree, etc..

I am waiting to be raised in March.  Memorization is no longer required here but I have found it to be enjoyable.  It has also been therapeutic since I have traumatic brain injury and makes the work mean that much more to me.  I want to be able to reciprocate the teaching and coaching I have received from the older gentlemen in my lodge and to ensure the mouth to ear work does not die.  Thanks to all the brothers who continue to impart their knowledge and devote their time to developing young minds like mine in the art of Freemasonry.

mouth to ear teaching is an important way to spread the brotherhood and fellowship as well. Almost everytime i work with a newbie we spend more time talking about the philosphy behind it than we do on the work.

WVa is, not required to return the 3rd, although I did. It has helped me learn and to be prepared for advancement.

The instructor keeps taking the papers away from us, I'm guessing he prefers M2E

I found it much easier to learn M2E. It has a certain rhythm and pace.

M2E was (and as far as I know still is) the only way coaching is done here. I really enjoyed it all the way through.

I am sorry to say that I haven't sat in the Lodge for several years now. I really enjoyed it while I was going, I coached the same year I was raised and I started in the chairs that same year, but work started getting in the way and.... well I could make excuses or I could just make an effort to get my sorry behind in there.....

I'm in the same boat. I was Warder of my Commandery, but my work schedule changed, then I had a kid....

Once you get it down recite it once a week I do that with all my lectures it. Comes in handy later. Right now I'm working on the middle ch lecture and at first I was overwhelmed but I just pick away at it a few lines a night. I had a hard time at first learning to memorize stuff but once you find the right way to do it things get easier. The hard one was the mm lecture since you are kind of done there's not much incentive to sit down and know it cold, you really have to have discipline.

You're normal. It won't take long to learn it, just slow down and think it through before you answer.

For me, m2e was my only option.  I found the work on the web, but it was different from what was taught in our lodge and confused me.  So I did it the hard way.  On the other hand, I still remember it all.  Now I am learning the questions.

I've taken the initiative to learn my FC in it's entirety  (Q&A)
My instructor is very pleased with my efforts.

I knew the answers, but I did not know the exact composition of the questions.
