I just watched it for the first time.

That's one f'd up movie.

I ain't seen it yet.

Is it as homo-Erotic as it looks?

It's a great movie...

It's more like a comedy.

It's like an ink blot - you see in it what you want to.

And I see a lot of you have been forgetting the first two rules of fight club.

Besides which the first rule of project mayhem is you do not ask questions.
11/22/2008 12:45:54 AM EDT

Right, remember the 1st rule!

the director plays up the queer angle to keep you off-balance until the reveal. If you listen to the director's commentary tracks, he says that explicitly.

Good Movie

ETA: Its not queer

One of the best movies ever.  If you're one of those people that can't see the meaning in a movie beyond what a 5 year old would comprehend, yeah you probably won't like it.

Since I had read the book prior, and thus knew the ending, I never even noticed a "queer angle". Guess I should watch it again?

Good movie. Wasn't quite the book, but what is?
11/22/2008 1:08:06 AM EDT
[#14]
I can't talk about it.

I have to completely disagree. I read the book, saw the movie, then re-read the book; in comparison, the book is really awful.

If you listen to Uncle Chuck's commentary track on the DVD, he says as much.

Honestly, I haven't listened to the commentary.  With that said, his goal when writing was to do a series of linked stories, none exceeding seven pages.  He did accomplish that...and we got the movie, also.

11/22/2008 1:20:59 AM EDT

One of the few movies that is better than the book.

Oops, broke the 1st rule!

This.

Fight Club is a theatrical masterpiece. Easily one of the best acted and directed movies ever.

Another poster mentioned that it is like an ink blot. I agree. If you are under 30, you'll miss a lot of the meaning of the movie. Basically the story of a man who undergoes a psychotic break due to living a 'dead-end' life.

One of the few movies I have ever seen that made me examine my own life, for weeks.

Great movie....

Reminded me ALOT of Donnie Darko, both made me scratch my head at the end and say "I have to watch that again....a dozen times".

I first saw the movie at 26, I'm kickin on the door of 28 now and still get it, just like I did when I was 26

And it has Ed Norton in it. What more do you need? Go watch the damn thing and your first assignment afterward is to get beat up this week. Lose.

I can't speak of such a club, if it were to exist.

Smith & Wesson 4506 is a relevant firearm we shouldn't speak of either.

I can't say if I own one either - or why.

Sir.

My favorite line from the movie is:

"A house full of condiments and no food... how embarrassing."

A bit of trivia: in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, the "bait" in the motel toward the end was wearing a Fight Club t-shirt.

Great movie, although I liked the ending in the book a little better. I still use the space monkey line on occasion, some people get it.

I like that..... very original.

I laughed when Brad opened the bedroom door all sweaty and naked, picking his navel, and wearing rubber gloves. "Ya wanna finish her off?"

So, while we're on the subject, if the first two rules were to not talk about it, why was there a need to not only create a hardcopy of the rules, but to make copies of them?

And, does anyone else watch the film while assembling furniture from Ikea?

Parts of it I really liked. The whole part in the bar about Duvet covers was great. Why the hell do we know what a duvet cover is? Good social commentary about the excesses of consumerism. Trying to use 'things' to fill an empty life and all that.

And having worked for large corporations, the part about destroying corporate art was a hoot!
