What are your thoughts on fighting (of any kind)? In my opinion, fighting (be it a fist fight, a gun fight or a war) is dangerous and should be avoided to the any extent possible. If it becomes impossible to avoid fighting then you should use overwhelming force in order to incapacitate your opponent or remove his will to fight, and then extract yourself from the situation as quickly as possible. Lastly, I do not believe in a fair fight. In a fight, there is victory and there is defeat. If you are forced to fight then you should fight as hard, using whatever means or tactics you can to defend yourself and then get out of the situation at the first opportunity. |

In a properly regulated sporting competition with adequate protective equipment and willing participants, it has its place.
Wrestling (Olympic, not WWE), for example, is a very challenging and 'pure' sport. Ditto for boxing, judo, fencing, etc. Not crazy about MMA because I think it's too far towards the realm of spectacle. I'm just not crazy about entertainment that exploits human suffering. Outside of a sanctioned sporting event, fighting should be treated as lethal combat, and avoided accordingly. |

I train in martial arts and we are always stressing this in class and training. |

Fighting is to be avoided. If it cannot, you must do one of two things. Remove your opponent's desire to continue the fight, or remove his ability to do so effectively. To do this quickly and effectively requires an overwhelming amount of force and brutality. Fuck being fair.
I do not like to fight. But if I'm forced, I will try my best to break every one of my opponent's bones that I can, and end the fight as quickly as possible. It's hard to fight effectively if your nose is broken, your ribs are cracked, and your elbows/knees are now bending the wrong way.

| Some people just don't understand anything except a good old fashioned ass whoopin. The older I get the more I try to avoid it but sometimes violence is the answer. I fight dirty BTW. Fighting fair is a good way to get ones ass kicked and getting your ass kicked sucks. |

You don't just want to remove the will to fight. You want to smash them badly enough they will never consider fighting you again. I once bit off a guys cheek FWIW. |

I once bit off a guys cheek FWIW. is it true that the buttox is the most tender meat ? Kinda like bitting through a piece of Jello wrapped in cheese cloth. The guy was a good deal larger than me and had me against a wall in a position where I really could not strike any meaningful blows. Honestly at the time I did it I seriously thought he was going to kill me so survival mode kicked in and I grabbed a mouthful of face and proceeded to bite down and shake my head as hard as I could. It caused enough pain and distraction to give me the upper hand. |

I can see situations where you would fight "fair". Like a confrontation between neighbors kinda thing. Hood rats, intruders, etc., are a whole different matter. |

If you are a grown man and have to resort to violence to solve a problem, you are then in fear for your life or great bodily injury and all means fair or foul are to be used to win the altercation. If you think that you need to fight fair, then you don't need to fight. Just my opinion, and you are certainly welcome to yours. |

Why would you get into a physical altercation with your neighbors? Why not just go in the house instead? |
| In todays world, you need to first, develop an exit strategy. Then you must find a way to fix up your enemies neighborhood so he will see what a great guy you are and change his desire to continue his warlike attitude toward you. You also must develop a series of measured responses so that your neighbors don't see you as being over aggressive. Once you have beaten your opponent you must spend the rest of your life taking care of him and making sure that he has everything he needs so he won't want to fight again. |
