Picked this one at a half priced books. The book is about the German's experience fighting on the Eastern front during World War 2. It's written by former German commanders and edited by Peter G. Tsouras, U.S. Army historians basically wanted a book that was from the German perspective on the war.
I'm only about 50 pages in so far, but it's pretty damn interesting it's not on one particular soldier, but more like a breakdown of Russian training, tactics, weapons, and command structure. One of my favorite quotes so far in regards to Germans fighting off the Russian wave attack "Only the true soldier, the experienced individual fighter, could in the long run stand up under the strain; only a multitude of them could stop those masses" Anyone else ever read it? Or find any other good books from the German perspective? |
