| I posted more details in the Business/Investing forum, but have a question about the actual companies for investing. I've been looking at a couple, mainly with low trading fees. I've been looking at OptionHouse with only $3.95 trades. Is there anything wrong with them? I was also looking at Trade King...but they're a dollar more per trade. What do you guys recommend? |
| I don't know anybody who uses Option House, so can't comment there. I am probably going to move my account over to Zecco or Trade King eventually, probably at the start of next year. I have heard good things about both from acquaintances . TradeKing has lower margin rates at the lower end from what I remember. |

I don't have any intentions of using margin, or at least not anytime soon. My other question is when some of them say no after hours trading, that just means that the transaction takes place on the following open right? Is after hours trading where it trades instantly, even when markets are closed? |

I have an OptionsHouse account and have never had any problems with them. I don't know what type of trading you intend to do, but they are mainly set up for options trading, hence the name, but you can also trade equities. If you want to trade currencies, you may want to look at another online trading platform. |

I'm planning on sticking mainly to stocks for right now, although will probably maintain my T Rowe account for my mutual funds. |

The trades are inexpensive, which is why I initially set up my account there a couple years ago. Lots of trading diminishes your return, so I wanted something inexpensive. They have some good tools available, like any other trading platform. They have a virtual account, with fake money you can use, until you feel comfortable using the various tools available. They also offer a lot of trading seminars throughout the year. |
