I need to figure out the most recent statistics for how many people die from medical malpractise in recent years and how many die from firearm accidents, and total firearms deaths just for comparison. This is what I have right now: A recent Institute of Medicine report quoted rates estimating that medical errors kill between 44 000 and 98 000 people a year in US hospitals. (Kohn LT, ed, Corrigan JM, ed, Donaldson MS, ed. To Err Is Human: Building a Safer Health System. Washington, DC: National Academy Press; 1999.) Now I need the same type of information for guns, and in the same year. |
