This follows the same pattern every year. Fall drags along as students are uncertain of scale of project and aren't with it so much. Then in the spring they see it coming together and work at about 3 times the speed they started at since they can see the end product in reach and get much more precise and efficient and exacting in their work so a whole lot more gets done in the spring than in the fall.
Don't assume that on the schedule though, otherwise you'll need summer school for art, (which would be a really cool thing either way). They're doing great and are eager with new input and smiling. I like that! |

Question for guns. Have you ever weighed any of the large scale projects? Ever since I've lurked here that's been on my mind. If not weighed what is your best guess on what each one must weigh? Inquiring minds and all that stuff.

We brought in a scale once to prove they were not nearly has heavy as they look. The funny thing is our scissor lift is a pretty accurate measurement. It only will lift 500lbs. Two 220lb guys just about maxes its lift ability out. Add a 220lb guy in the lift and it will not go up if the fuselage body of our project is more of that. The submarine front 2/3rds section was close to making this not happen. Most finished fuselages we've build maybe hit 100-125lbs, maybe. Probably less in most cases. Wings might add 20-30lbs each? We always use heavier cable than necessary and attach to main I-beams that are massive. We have had an engineering firm come in to make sure the builds are safely displayed. |

I'd like a gray pullover sweatshirt. Failing that, the most grey like DO/sage pullover hoodie thing. Do they have pockets? Maybe a grey tshirt as well (or the sage/DO green failing grey, but grey looks good, black is too hot, white gets dirty too easy, and... well. gray!)
I have a stack of T-shirts, may as well do something different this time. |

Are the cable anchors bolted through the I-beams? That would hold a crapload of weight (and a bitch to drill through). Not so much if the cable terminates at a 3M sticky zip tie block. |

Looks like it could be added to the existing rear rail of wing, not notching it out in spots and re-doing the internal framing. Just the sheeting would need to be cut and some creative rasping of foam and more skin should do it. On the bright side, there's only one wing. |
