Anyone running it yet?

Quoted: I actually liked chrome, but for some reason I couldn't get the embedded vids on arfcom to play with it so I went back to firefox. Sweet, downloading now. I had just recently switched to chrome to try it out and there are a couple things I don't like about it but there are also things it does better than firefox, maybe firefox 4 beta will make me happy. |

Just downloaded it, like it OK other than the obvious of my plugins not working. Only problem I have so far as it shows all my tabs as different windows in the task bar (windows 7). So, if I have three tabs open the firefox icon is highlighted 3 times like there are three separate windows open. Anyone know how to fix that? |

The tabs showing as multiple windows may be by design, or it might be a defect. I'll try to check the release notes / bugzilla later tonight if I can. As for plugins, install this bad boy https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/15003/?src=external-fxbetarelnote I haven't tried to get my zillion plugins working yet, but I'm going to go through them when I get back from the pet store. So far I like it. eta: If anybody cares about their firefox settings/customizations, I highly recommend using mozbackup to preserve your profile. This way you can start horsing around with your settings with reckless abandon, and if you hose something up real bad you can get back to a known good baseline. |

Quoted: Don't expect any 3rd party addons to run. Remove or disable them and try again. How is the HTML5 support? By default, FF4 will disable all addons that aren't already confirmed working by the developer, up and until you install the little add-on bug report help thingy. HTML5 support seemed fine to me. I hit a few sites that had been modernized for this and they seemed just fine. Granted I spent a total of about 20 minutes doing this. I did have some random pages that were slower to load than 3.6. I'm talking in half second or less increments here. Once I started enabling my plugins, some of the ones I really depend on were fucked (greasemonkey being the biggest offender). There are already guys working on that, and there is a hacked greasemonkey that is claimed to work with 4.0b2 in the wild. I still have the 4.0b1 install on my system and might fire it up again tomorrow to mess around with it, but I'm not ready to use it as my primary browser. I am not uncomfortable using betas and normally run the latest FF beta as a primary. I am however not enough of a cowboy to do this with the nightly builds, unless I am sitting around bored out of my mind. I think 4.0 will be ready for prime time in short order in any case. |
