Every now and then, on only a few specific websites (ultimate-guitar.com is one of them, it seems to happen more on sites that have Flash stuff going on in the background), Firefox locks up on me.  I click the button to send an error report, reopen Firefox, restore my previous session and it'll lock up again.  It only does this on my home PC, my work laptop is good to go on the same websites.  Both run Windows XP (XP Home on the problem PC, XP Pro on my work laptop), and both have the latest version of Firefox.

Anyone else have any similar problems?  Any recommended fixes?

I had multiple issues with Firefox 3.0 so I downgraded. Everything has been fine ever since.

I had the same problem.

I'm running in "safe mode" with add-ons disabled.

Are you running Flash 10 with FF 3.0.3?  There are some documented problems with it.  Downgrade the Flash to 9 and it seems to help.

I'm currently running Flash 9 and Firefox 3.0.4 on the problem PC.

Both me and my buddy experienced problems like that about 2 weeks ago.  The new(at the time, I think it was 3.0.3) update came out and everything has been golden since.

Havent had any probs with 0.4 yet except that stupid Flash 10 bullshit.

Firefox just came out with version 3.0.4.  You might want to try it before downgrading.

This problem occurred on 3.0.3 and 3.0.4, although it seems to be a hair more stable with the latter.

Delete Windows.  Install Linux.

That didn't take long.

ETA - Now all I need is some asshole with a Mac to come along, and the thread will be complete.

Try to reinstall or use Opera.

"Add ons"?

"Safe Mode"?

Might I recommend Safari?

This is known problem for some do to bunged up patches of previous installations.

Solution is to completely uninstall Firefox, reboot, and install a fresh copy.

Seriously though, have you tried a complete uninstall and reinstall?

I don't know if you want to go as far as getting into the registry and deleting firefox from there also before a fresh install, your call.

Dammnit, beat me to it.

I guess that's the next step.  I'm not comfortable playing around in the registry, will the "Add/Remove Programs" thing work well enough?

I used to use it a lot but the last update screwed it up as you are describing. I on explorer again with no complaints.

Chances are that there is a problem in your firefox profile.  After you uninstall firefox, you might want to delete all of the mozilla and firefox directories that you can find and then reinstall firefox.
