I have gay friends who are very upset at me for my support of Trump.

I told them I would stand with them if anyone tried to take away their rights, and now that Trump has come out in support of FADA they are calling me out.

I understand the intent of the bill, but I'm not sure I support it.

Help me understand why FADA is necessary.

Bullshit.  All FADA does is get rid of special victim "protected classes" and makes sure everyone is treated equally under the law.

ETA - FADA is a direct response to the assholes that target Christian bakeries and then sue them when they won't bake them a cake.

I get the bakery angle, but doesn't FADA actually create a "protected class"...specifically, those who oppose gay marriage?

The 1st Amendment prevents the .Gov from penalizing you for your beliefs.

Forcing someone to bake a cake against their beliefs is a violation of that.

No, it simply prevents people from suing you due to your religious beliefs.  I would hardly consider that being a "protected class".

Exactly this, OP. You can say what you want but you cannot force your beliefs onto others. Makes sense.

Look, the reality of the situation is that as long as you don't walk into an interview with a feather boa and dildo strapped to your head, 99% of employers and retailers don't give a shit if you're gay, straight, whatever.  Tell your gay friends we're all very sorry they cannot offensively target religious businesses, but other than that life will go on as normal and this will NOT make any tangible changes in the lives of LGBTBBQ people.
