I'm about half way through it so far, pretty damn good read.

It's interesting in that ir portrays Rambo and Teasle as neitehr hero no villain but just people. The author sounds lke a gun guy in that Teasle carries a Hi Power and that mentions a Colt Python, S&W 29, pump .300 Sav, and so on

The book was considered a modern classic and was used in English lit classes at several colleges/universities (David Morrell was a lit prof when he wrote it.).  Then the movie came out and kind of killed that.

I do not know if Mr. Morrell is a gun guy but he does very good research on his books.

The book does a much better job of laying out the military backgrounds of Rambo and Teasle, and showing how the main conflict of the story was generational and personal.   Teasle being the "Korea" generation, Rambo being the "Vietnam" generation.  Ending was better too.....

I seem to recall that in the front of the book was a note to the affect "I envy you reading this book for the first time".

Read some of his short horror stories.  They are very interesting.  I believe they were composed after the death of one of his children.

The bood does an excellent job of placing sympathy with both the Sherrif and Rambo.

IIRC, the book was a bit more violent too...shaving scene comes to mind...
