Those Damn Hippies are to used to getting there way over here, but you can't do that same shit in other parts of the world. They don't put up with it[;)] http://foxnews.com/story/0,2933,81209,00.html U.S. Protester Killed by Bulldozer in Gaza Sunday, March 16, 2003 GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — An American woman in Gaza to protest against Israeli operations was killed Sunday when she was run over by an Israeli bulldozer, witnesses and hospital officials said. Witnesses said Rachel Corrie, 23, from Olympia, Wash., was trying to stop the bulldozer from tearing down a building in the Rafah refugee camp, witnesses said, when she was run over. She was taken to Najar hospital in Rafah, where she died, said Dr. Ali Moussa, a hospital administrator. Greg Schnabel, 28, from Chicago, said the protesters were in the house of Dr. Samir Masri. "Rachel was alone in front of the house as we were trying to get them to stop," he said. "She waved for bulldozer to stop and waved. She fell down and the bulldozer kept going. We yelled 'stop, stop', and the bulldozer didn't stop at all. It had completely run over her and then it reversed and ran back over her," he said. The Israeli military had no immediate comment. Groups of international protesters have gathered in several locations in the West Bank and Gaza during two years of Palestinian violence, setting themselves up as "human shields" to try to stop Israeli operations there. Corrie was the first member of the groups, called "International Solidarity Movement," to be killed in the conflict. Schnabel said there were eight protesters at the site, four from the United States and four from Great Britain. "We stay with families whose house is to be demolished," he told the Associated Press by telephone from Rafah after the incident. Schnabel said Corrie was a student at Evergreen College and was to graduate this year. Israel sends tanks and bulldozers into the area almost every day, destroying buildings near the Gaza-Egypt border. According to interim peace accords, Israel controls the border area. There are almost daily clashes between Palestinian gunmen and Israeli soldiers in the area. |

Hmm, must have been not very well read. Or she read just not the right stuff. "Mr Dent," (Mr Prosser) said. "Hello? Yes?" said Arthur (Dent). "Some factual information for you. Have you any idea how much damage that bulldozer would suffer if I just let it roll straight over you?" "How much?" said Arthur. "None at all," said Mr Prosser... Douglas Adams, The Hitch Hikers Guide to Galaxy Edited to fulfill expectations and to add: I'm of course outraged that the evil Jews brutally killed an American citizen; the latter at least having had the guts [1] to stand up and even die for her believes. [1] Said guts could be clearly seen in the released imagery. |

I'd have to say she made a very poor choice. She sided with the enemy, but she did follow through with her convictions, and I can respect that even though I find her to be a disgusting traitor. I hope the Israelies bulldoze a few more. Her and those like her won't get any sympathy from me. |

I think Dept. of Homeland Security in a joint effort with the UN should sponsor "international protest." Protestors in large groups could be transported all over the world at vastly reduced costs with the assistance of the US government. Then when they get capped in Italy for attacking police with fire extinguishers, run over in Israel or just "old fashioned" get yer head chopped off and sold at market in Africa they may start to understand that they don't live in the police state they thought they lived in before. It's good for them and good for us. |

First, she understood the risks of what being a human sheild is all about. If she wasnt willing to give her life for the cause, then she should not have been there. She, ans she alone, is responsible for her death. That being said, I do respect her fight for what she believes in.... however misguided. I am sure her organizations will hold her up to be a martyr... Apparently she was a very outspoken and active member of her community in Olympia... here are a few links I found where you can get a better idea about her "causes" Doesn't sound like a total nutjob to me.... just a highly motivated, misguided young person, who got in the way of a very large piece of machinery. Know thine enemy. |

I notice the Fox report said she fell down before the 'dozer reached her. My hunch is that the driver simply didn't see her; or if he had seen her before she fell, assumed she'd moved out of the way. Usual procedure in these situations is to pull up, call for some ground pounders to come up and "encourage" the protestor(s) to move out of the way, with night sticks or tear gas. Stupid, stupid people. If they really wanted to save Arab homes, they'd be standing in front of the suicide bombers when they started out, blocking their way to their murder assignments. The Israelis would then have no reason to knock down the homes they left behind. |
| This must be a horrible way to go since they took her to a hospital she may have still been conscious (or as conscious as she was on a normal day which does not seem very conscious). That means she would have time to think of her actions and how they affected her. The problem is that at this point she was probably still blaiming others. |
