Got a Lowrance fish finder for bass fishing.

What I want to do is take short cable and connect it to a longer cable so I can move it around my boat without moving the battery.

What kind of connectors should I look for?

The wire looks pretty small and thin.

Thanks

It sounds like you want to extend the power cable.  I want to say it is 10 or 12 gauge.  I just put an Elite 3X on the boat a few weeks ago and can check the connectors when I get home.

I would probably run one gauge heavier wire and splice to the power cable on the unit.  There are little connectors available at Autozone that you slip the wires in each side and crip.  I believe they have some with heat shrink tube also to help keep water out.  That should get you power where you want it.

Butt splices suck.

Solder the wires, cover with a little dielectric grease and heat shrink them.

They make waterproof heat shrink for marine applications too.
